I have two large (roughly 35 feet tall) Maple's in my front yard. I think they are called Chinese Maple? Anyhow, there are roots from the trees running on the surface. I think it's a combination of the former owners not watering the yard and parking their cars on it for the last 5 years. However, the trees seem healthy enough and I certainly want to save them. The rest of the yard is a 1/2 grass, 1/2 weeds mess and I need to tear it all out but the visible tree roots run as far as 20 feet from the trunks and that covers over 1/2 my yard. I do plan on bringing in some topsoil so the roots are covered 2-3 inches when i'm done. So, how to kill the old grass/weeds and remove without hurting the trees? How careful do I need to be around the roots? Can I use round-up to kill the grass/weeds? The ground is so compacted I want to use a rototiller as much as I can, but I'm afraid of cutting a large root. Any ideas?

  • Honda HS928TA Snowthrower electrical question?

My pup chewed a couple of wires off the side of the engine. The blower runs normally so I know they don't have anything to do with the ignition. They appear to be the wires that power the headlight. I can repair it easy enough but the problem is there are 2 red wires that come out of the engine and I don't know if they were connected together or should be kept separate and which one or both hook to the headlight. All other wires on the blower are fine. I have searched google for a wiring diagram and spare parts, but am having no luck finding an answer. The owners manual doesn't have a diagram or parts list. Anyone happen to know the answer or where I can find one? Thanks!

  • Will my dog outgrow his chewing problem?

My 17 month old wolf/husky mix has a bit of a chewing problem. He seems to like wires and things like seatbelts/straps. I give him all the hooves, chew bones, nylabones, bully sticks and toys a dog could want but he still needs to attack something new every once in a while. I'm worried that he'll try to chew a lamp cord that's plugged in one of these days. I adopted this guy about 3 months ago so I think he's feeling at home now. He gets to run off leash for about 1/2 hour every day and I take him out for longer hikes some weekends. So, Is this something he'll grow out of? Is there something better I can give him for chew toys?
