I know most gay people in NJ flock to the hustle-and-bustle part of New Jersey, which tends to be North Jersey around Newark/NYC and the likes. However, for someone looking for a little bit lower cost of living and milder winters, would S Jersey work? As in Cumberland/Salem/Southern Gloucester Counties or even Atlantic County? Is it anything like the South, where a sizable part of the population views gays unfavorably? I've never lived in a major metro area so suburban/rural would be best for me. As long as there's city amenities within an hour I'd be happy.
