I got a basset hound/beagle mixed dog on Sunday and I think I might have ruined the chance at him & my two cats possibility of getting along. When I first brought him home I just let him in the house (stupid decision, I now know), and they all got in this awful fight. No one was hurt, but now he's determined to attack my cats and they're terrified of him. I've kept them separate for the past few days - the cats in my room during the day (so the dog can roam free around the house), and the dog in the office at night (so the cats can be roam free in the house). The cats are going crazy being cooped up all day and the dog is going crazy being cooped up all night. The dog is 11 months old and hasn't been around cats since he was a puppy - his previous owner says he got along with them then, but that was about 6-8 months ago. One of the cats is 3 years old and minds her own business, the other is about 2 years old and likes to play a LOT. The second cat used to live with my parents pit bull and they got along great, but that was about a year ago. Neither cats have been around dogs in the past year. Is there any way to reintroduce them? Or have I done too much damage with the first introduction? Is keeping them separated like that good or is it causing more damage? Help!

It's REALLY hard because honestly I don't like her at all - she's one of those "I'm cool because I'm a *****, deal with it" kind of girls and she's getting married because she found out she's pregnant and she's from a very Christian family. Since it's a rush wedding (only giving everyone 2-3 weeks notice) I don't think she's going to have a gift registry, but I don't want to be rude and show up without SOMETHING. I'm pretty sure she knows I don't like her, so it's not like I'd be being "fake" by buying her a gift, just being polite. Plus she's the type who would probably expect a gift. She doesn't really know how to cook, so cooking tools/appliances is out of the question. Her place is already decorated, so no decorations needed... Can anyone suggest something?? My budget is $50-75.

  • Can owing money to one Junior College affect your ability to take classes at another?

I owe about $300 to a JC in one county (for classes I took back in 2005), but I've since moved and I want to take classes at the local JC. Will owing the other school prevent me from enrolling in classes at my local Junior College? I plan to pay them off, it's just that the semester starts soon and I don't have the money right now.

So I got in a car accident about ten days and I had always thought that when it came down to a life or death situation I'd pray and I'd talk to god or whatever but as I looked out my car window to see a car speeding at me my thought was "Oh ****, I'm not going to live anymore, this is how I'm going to die. This is how it's going to end. How lame...". Once I realized I was alive (covered in blood and hurting real bad), I didn't thank god instead I thought "Wow, I guess the world still wants me to be alive."... I used to believe in god but as I've grown up I've grown away from that idea and I now believe more in "the powers that be" and "the fates of the world". I don't think there's a heaven or hell. I think that you live your life and there's a chance when you die that that's it, but that there's also a chance you might come back for another life to learn another lesson or perform some sort of purpose. I don't feel the need to meditate to become closer to my "spiritual self". My morals are to be true to myself and make sure I'm happy and those who I love are happy. I try to help the world, give food to homeless people I'm nice to little kids, lonely people, etc. I don't feel bound by anyone else's morals, I just do what I think feels okay. If I make a mistake I swallow that guilt and move on - I don't feel the need to "repent" for any sort of "sins". So what religion is that? I've studied theology a little bit and from what I know my beliefs don't fit into anything. Not Christianity or Muslim or Judaism or Buddhism or Taoism...

So I have two cats, one of which is a total mommas boy (Buffalo) and the other who is fairly loving but hates most other animals and only gets along with people (Tigre). In three weeks I'll be moving in with my boyfriend and his one, semi-social cat. I know Buffalo will do fine but I have a feeling Tigre will cause fights and be very unhappy living with a new cat. This fear was very confirmed because today I had to bring them both to my parents house (i'm on bedrest after a car accident) and once I let them out of their cat carriers Tigre attacked my mom and Buffalo. We've been here for almost twelve hours and she's still growling and hissing at Buffalo (whom she's lived with for over a year). She'll let me pet her and starts purring when I do but if Buffalo even looks at her from across the room she starts to growl. What should I do about her? I love them both dearly, but I don't want her to be so unhappy moving makes her unhappy and other cats make her unhappy - when I move in with my boyfriend she'll have to deal with both at the same time. If she's this upset about moving with a cat she's lived with happily for over a year how will she react when she has to move in with a cat she doesn't even know?
