I work in a sports centre as a pool lifeguard, I have been working here for 7 months. I frequently get customers coming to me and complaining to me about things to do with the pool which I don't have control over, eg the swim times set by the centre for kids vs adults, the lack of hygiene of some of the customers. I have never had a customer complain about me before though, but my boss hasn't been that happy with me recently due to little things like me finishing my shift 5 mins early.
Today, another customer came to me and made a complaint. She said that nobody ever turns the shower at the poolside off after using it. This is a problem, and I as the lifeguard am always having to go and turn the shower off because customers are too lazy to turn it off after use. She was getting quite frustrated about customers wasting water and was saying that this sports centre ought to change their showers and have showers which go off automatically like other sports centres, to which I said that it is not necessary because it is easy to turn the shower off but people just need to do it. We got into a little argument and she said that "I don't like your attitude, infact I don't like the attitude of any member of staff in this place." I foolishly got angry and said something regrettable: "Well then perhaps you shouldn't be here." She has made a written complaint about me and my boss gets back on Monday, will I be fired? I don't want to face that so I am thinking of just not coming to work anymore and not telling anyone; if I'm going to get fired I'd rather not have my boss see me cry! :(
