We had an issue with our monitor this morning where it was "washed out" or had a milky background effect. That has been fixed now due to mistakenly changing a setting on the monitor (a samsung LED). But now we have a problem that everything from the icons on the desktop to Internet explorer and all programs display too wide. We have checked the resolution and other setting on the PC and they havenàt changed and we have tried adjusting them and restarting the PC but everything still appears too wide. It doesnt seem to respond to anything. I have also played with the menu for the monitor but nothing seems to help. Has anyone come across this or know what to do, any advise is appreciated. Cheers PS. No I am not in safety mode.

  • Some questions about life in Britain?

Where would be the best place to live within an hour of central London (when I say best I mean best value for money - "cost of renting" vs "nice & safe area") What would the average wage for an admin worker/book keeper be in Britain with 13 years experience? I'm sure everyone is going to say it's impossible to find work in Britain (as people say the same everywhere in the world) but if someone has any positives to say on the job front please comment... Please note that I am a British citizen so no need to comment about weather I can work in Britain. Any help is appreciated. Cheers,

  • Will the Nvidia GT630 run BF3, COD4 or Far Cry 3 ok?

I was going to get the GTX650 as I think its better value but most of the games I play are 5 to 10 years old or not heavy on graphics. Occasionally I like to play the action games listed above though but unfortunately they have the ability to sometimes make me nauseous in my old age :(. Cheers,

  • Anyone know a good place or website to value stamps?

I have my fathers old collection of stamps that he had when he was a kid (probably over 2000 stamps going back to 1930's, 40's, 50's and 60's). What are the odds that any are worth anything at all?

I mean projects you would use in an office environment, not games or anything like that. I have done some work with visual basic, macros in excel and reading and writing from web sites to excel but I want some practical experience for my resume using C++ (or even another one in VB) so a manager can see value in what I have done. I am not looking for work as a programmer but just want something to add on my resume (I am also actually going to do the project). My other project was for a transport company and it read web links from an excel sheet and went to the delivery status pages and read/wrote certain data (ie dipatch date, deliver date and destination) back to excel in a nice neat speadsheet. This saved a great deal of time from doing it manually as sometimes there were over 30 links to process. Something like above. Something practical and can be appreciated by a prospective employer eventhough there will be no programming involved in the job. I already know some programming so I'm figuring why not add a few feathers to my cap.

But the next day the problems I had stressed about seem so small and insignificant and I had amplified them 10 times what I should. It's not that they are unimportant problems but that during the night I attach a great and irrational urgency to them and even though I am aware now that I do it, it still happens. It even occurs before I go to bed sometimes, just watching TV or something but only at night. I know I'm not the only one because I have heard many people tell me the same about them (without me mentioning that I do the same) and I think it is why a lot of people have insomnia. Lucky for me I only have once every 2 months or so for around a week.

Would this work? One of the reasons I want to try it is because there are a number of locations around the house we think it would look ok but aren't certain so it would be great to be able to move it around. We don't want 3 seperate grape vines.
