If insurance companies are forced to insure high risk patients, which ultimately means more payouts... How does this translate to lower prices for us? If anything, it would raise premiums... Otherwise insurance companies would start going out of business left and right... which will raise the price even more... So, can someone help me understand this?

  • Which plan is better?

Obama wants to put $150 BILLION over the next 10 years into R&D of alternative energies with the end result of being completely oil independent. So, are you OK with the (in the mean time) gas prices going up to maybe $10/gallon while we wait for smarter cars? I have read his plan and there is NOTHING at all in it to help lower gas prices...... show more

So, are you OK with the (in the mean time) gas prices going up to maybe $10/gallon while we wait for smarter cars? I have read his plan and there is NOTHING at all in it to help lower gas prices... In fact, what the plan calls for is to tax the oil/gas companies more (which will help to raise the price of gas) to pay for the majority of the plan... I mean, this is good in the sense that we are not paying in taxes... OR ARE WE? I mean, all taxes are eventually paid by consumers! Anyway. Is this a good plan? I hear Liberals complain a LOT more than Conservatives about gas prices... in fact, I hear a lot of Liberals complain that Conservatives are NOT complaining... So, Liberals... are you OK with Obama's plan to literally double gas prices?

Her first guest this morning was a "scientist" (I never caught his name) who insists that the primary cause for global warming is human interfearance and that a vast majority of scientists believe this. I listened for almost the full hour trying to gain some insight. but he never offered a single bit of evidence, or even observation. He did say a couple of interesting things, however. "Skeptisizm is the life blood of science", though in the same sentence he accused "contrarians" (those with a different view) of being the cause of our confusion. Then while responsing to an email from a meteorologist, he stated that he could not comment on the onservation as that was not his expertise. HUH? If you are on NPR stating as a matter of fact that the CLIMATE is changing because of humans and NOT evolution... WHAT IS YOU EXPERTISE? Any thoughts?

Asking myself, what am I doing to contribute either to the problem or the solution? Next I look to my community... is there something wrong in my community? Is there something I can do? Is it an issue for the local government? Should I email Mr. Johnson (my congressional representative)? I mean, I honestly believe if we spent as much time trying to solve our issues as we do blaming and trying to prove a point, more people would realize just how cool this place is! My neighborhood is filled with people that truly respect and support one another... (and since it is primarily Hispanic, we have a LOT of BBQ) and no one around here is afraid... No one complains... we all help each other out and we just live our life... How do YOU deal with your issues?

  • Who really controls the price of oil?

But if that is true, how can the same people then be so sure that speculators are even partially to blame for the high price? If the price is influenced AT ALL by speculation, wouldn't the very possibility (current laws in the U.S. make it impossible for drilling currently) of drilling and production affect the price of oil futures? (FUTURES is what we are talking about after all) Your thoughts?
