Last month my car started to have issues. It kept stalling and the speedometer stopped working. When i took it to a shop they told me that the issue was the alternator,I said to go ahead and fix it. However when I got the car back the speedometer still wasn't working and the check engine and ABS lights were still on so of course I took it back only to be told that NOW I needed a new speed sensor which I agreed to let them try but when they attempted 3 different speed sensors it still didn't fix the problem. The mechanic swears there is no fuse for that circuit and I didn't see Speedometer on the fuse list, but now I've noticed that my car isn't logging miles correctly (ie. Average MPG, Trip distance etc.) and half of the dash isn't lighting up. When I took it to get a diagnostic reading all it said was Speed Senor Failure but that obviously cant bee the problem as the lights are still on. I have a Toyota Avalon XLS 2001 which I have owned for 3 years and has 166000 miles. Please If anyone know what could be wrong or recognizes this description please respond as buying a new car really inst an option.
