  • Is there a medical form signed in the hospital by a patient that states who they appoint in case they are put on life support?

My father was put on life support and I had no clue.  My grandmother knew and withheld it from my sister and I so she could try to take his estate.      She terminated the life support without our knowledge.  She took away our right as his children to sit by his side and say good bye and tell him we love him.  He did not have a will.  Is there a possibility that he signed something giving her legal rights?

  • What type of attorney should I seek?

I have asked before but the responses had nothing to do with my question.  In short, my grandmother (who is not legally next of kin in the state of FL) did not tell me my father was on life support.  She then signed paperwork to terminate life support.  Thinking that she would go behind my sister and my back to claim his estate.  She found out from my aunt that what she had done was illegal and I should have been contacted.  I am seeking legal counsel regarding this due to trauma and heartache. What type of attorney should I contact?  Please don’t comment with your opinions on my situation.

  • Why is this stray cat so attached to us immediately?

My boyfriend and I were sitting outside this evening and heard a loud meow come from our patio overhang.  There was a cat stuck on it!  We coaxed him down with a tiny piece of chicken at the end of a ramp we made for him to walk down.  Once on the ground we opened our back gate to let him out.  We went inside to wash up.  When we came back outside he was sitting next to our table waiting for us.  He was immediately affectionate rubbing up against our legs then jumping on my boyfriends lap for cuddles.  We tried one more time to let him out but he came right back into the backyard to sit with us.  We posted pics on FB for a lost cat in our community.  It seems like he has made us his humans.  He is very friendly and would be flattered if this is the case.  We’ve never had a cat so we are full of questions.  I am just curious as to why he has chosen to stay.  Does anyone have a clue?  Is it because we have him a tiny piece of chicken?  Is it possible he has a home?  He looks like someone’s pet.  It looks like he had a collar and it was somehow taken off due to an indent in his fur.  Any suggestions?  I’m really curious why he would just stay and hang out.  I wasn’t much of an animal person until we met a few hrs ago.  I’ve already named him.  Lol.

  • What type of lawyer do I contact?  Should I bother or just get over it?

My father was hospitalized last Dec without my knowledge and put on life support due to a heart attack and organ failure.  My grandmother (92 years old and fully functional and aware) told the Dr’s he had no children and signed paperwork to have life support discontinued.  I was notified after his death because my grandmother couldn’t sign the paperwork at the funeral home for his cremation without my signatures.  They did their homework and found out he had children.  I flew to FL from AZ the next day to sign everything.  While in FL my grandmother made it clear that she should have the right to his estate and not me.  I could have cared less about money!  All I wanted was his army picture!  After her many harassing phone calls I finally decided that I need to take action!  What type of grandmother does that?   Why wasn’t I contacted by a physician before his death?  Was my grandmother in the right to tell the Dr’s he had no children?  Why would they just take her word and end his life before I could be by his side?  I wished I had been there to hold his hand and tell him I loved him before he passed.  This situation has left me with severe depression and anxiety that I have to take medication for now!  Is this a situation I just need to get over or should I contact an attorney?

  • What type of attorney should I obtain?

My father was put on life support in FL without my knowledge. My grandmother told the hospital he had no children and signed paperwork to have him taken off life support. Because I am next of kin I am almost positive I should have been the one to make that decision considering by law I had to sign paperwork for his funeral and I am the only one entitled to his estate.

  • What family member has the authority to pull the plug on life support in FL?

My father passed away on Dec. 18. I was not notified by my grandmother or aunts that he was even in the hospital until he was taken off life support.

Was it legal for my grandmother to pull the plug even though I am next of kin?

  • Can I hire an attorney to handle my property damage claim in Delaware?

I was rear ended while standing at a red light. The woman slammed into me at between 40-50 mph. Her ins. co. has authorized my car to be fixed. The body shop has had my car for over 6 wks. Every time I call they give me the run around and tell me it will be only 1 more wk. This is a huge inconvenience. Not only that but I owe close to $9000 on this vehicle that was close to being totaled. Now the car will be worth about $4000 as a trade. This accident was not my fault but I live in a no fault state. Am I entitled to recoup lost value or am I screwed? I have a PIP attorney but I want to recover property damage.

  • When gWhen giving up temporary custody of a child, am I required to pay child support?

My fiance' signed custody to his x wife's mother back in 1998 for his 2 children, due to circumstances beyond his control. He then divorced his wife.

In the divorce papers it stated he was not liable for child support.

He thought the custody issue was temporary, but after trying to reinstate custody he found out it had been given to his x wife's new husband.

He has been paying his x wife a good amount of money every month ( since 2001 ), not through the court system. Recently, we found out she was using that money to buy illegal narcotics. Since then, he has refused to pay her a dime.

She is now divorcing her second husband. She does not work, and collects social security ( for an unknown illness ).

Because of this divorce she is trying to collect child support for his 2 children(not including the other 2 for her current x) that have been raised by her second husband, who has custody of them.

My fiance and his x wife both signed over custody to her parents in 1998 for their own reasons. Since 2001 my fiance has done nothing, but strive to pay for his children and all he asked in return was to see them occasionally, which has been denied by his x wife.

We constantly send them money for clothes, school, and social life. We have sent money, numerous times, for them to take the ferry from NJ to DE to come spend the weekend and they were not able to make the trips. We have given his x wife gas money to travel to Cape May and drop the kids off and she wasn't able to drive them.

My question is, Can my finace' be liable to pay child support for children (ages 18 and 15) that he has not been allowed contact with and SIGNED OVER CUSTODY THAT WAS LATER GIVEN TO ANOTHER MAN?

  • How often should I bathe my lab/beagle?

We adopted a lab/beagle a few months ago. We visited the vet 1 wk after we adopted him and purchased Heart Guard and Frontline. I forgot to ask how often we should bathe him.

The weekend that we adopted him we sent him to the groomer for his first bath. The following month we brought him again. Then I read that we shouldn't bathe him that frequently.

I brush him atleast 2x/wk to remove hair. Though, removing hair doesn't remove the smell!

It has been about 5 weeks since he has had a bath and he is stinky! The last time I brushed him I noticed dandruff.

I would like to bathe him at home(if possible). How many weeks should I wait between baths?

  • What is the minimum insurance requirement for a general contractor in the state of Delaware?

My fiance is a general contractor in Delaware. I believe that his liability coverage is outrageous.

I have been trying to search the web for minimum coverage requirements, but I have not been able to find a site that can satisfy my curiosity.

Please point me in the right direction! Thanks!
