  • Which Steam-punk books are heavier on Steam than on Punk?

I've not read a book in this genre, and I confess being turned off by the "punk" designation. However, the idea of "what if the 19th - 20th century ran on steam" intrigues me. So, what books resemble those of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne?

I have the books "The Regency Companion" by Laudermilk and "What Jane Austen Ate..." by Daniel Pool. Also "In the Midst of Alarums", which does describe women in the War of 1812 (both sides), but does not go into the fine detail that a domestic re-enactor or researcher would desire. Any pertinent suggestions?

I think he was called "The St. Paul of Spiritualism" because he travelled to so many countries and wrote so many books and pamphlets for Spiritualism. But was he in tune with Spiritualist doctrine then and now, or has he been debunked? Also what book or pamphlet on Spiritualism do you consider his best?
