I have an indoor pool with solar panels on the roof, There is an existing solar panel control module which the previous owner took apart. I dont know how to re-wire it and the sensors.
What I would like to do is hook up a thermostat to the relay for the pump motor and place the thermostat in a water proof box outside where the sun will shine on it directly. I am definitely going to hire an electrician to do that part of the job. I would like input from people that may have done something like this.
I plan on installing the metal housing for the thermostat on a post 4 feet off the ground in direct sunlight.
I will have the wire for the thermostat run through 3/8 inch PVC pipe.
All pvc pipe joints will be sealed airtight with PVC cement or silicone.
I plan on using the thermostat as if it was hooked up to a central AC, when it gets hot enough it will start the pool pump, if it should rain or get dark it will shut off. I can tweak the temperature on/off setting with the thermostat dial.
I could use a rain sensor for a lawn sprinkler system as an add on possibly
