  • How can I make friends?

I have trouble making friends. I’m a junior at a 4-year university and live in a 1-bedroom apartment, and I only have 1 or 2 friends. I don’t have a problem with going to places and striking conversations with people, laughing, talking, and all that even when I occasionally go to the bars. However, after I meet people for the first time, I have trouble with getting them to meet up with me a second time. It feels like unless I have something specific in mind to do that no one wants to just hang out and chill (i.e. watch a football, drink, play video games, etc.)., and when I ask someone for their phone to possibly hang out in the future, I always feel like I’m the desperate one and that the other person doesn’t really want to give me their or for me to text them. I don’t know what to do. Can somebody PLEASE help me to find a way to make friends more easily?

PS. I’ve tried joining clubs, but with no luck.

  • How do you apply for a credit card with a cosigner?

My dad wants me to get a credit card because I'm going off to college and he wants me to start building good credit. We found a credit card that we liked and we tried apply for it online. However, when looked all over the application, there was no place to put the information of the cosigner if you were applying with one. So we tried another credit card application, and the same result. We checked 5 application and they all were missing enter spaces for the cosigners info.

So how can I apply for a credit card with my dad as the cosigner?

Do I have to fill the application over the phone instead of online or something ????

  • Would it be weird if I wore a puka necklace during winter?

I was wondering whether it would be weird if I wore a puka necklace during winter. Keep in mind I live in the Chicagoland area so it exactly beaches and sun during December. Also I'm 18 years old.

I really like puka necklaces but I don't want people to think that I'm weird for wearing one during winter. Also I'm not preppy at all.

  • I have a college dorm dilemma here, need help fast?

I am going to college this fall and I'm a freshman, but my roommate is a sophomore.

Of the major things we need for the dorm (printer, tv, refrigerator, and microwave) my roommate has ALL of them.

I'm definitely bringing my own printer, but not a tv because I don't have a personal one, I don't have the money for one, and my parent's won't buy me one.

Here my problem: Of the four major things, We're both bringing the same one, and the other three my roommate is bringing since he already owns them from last year. He said he does 't mind if I use those things, but I personally feel that if he brings all of them and I bring nothing that I'm a leech and I'm leeching off of him.

I know we are roommate and we have to share, but with the situation the way it is, I feel that he's doing all the sharing and I'm doing nothing.

So does anybody have a solution?

  • How does my TV do that?

I have a TV that has no connections at all to our antenna at all, but for some reason our TV still receives a TV signal, so how is that possible? Its not a very expensive TV. Its five years old, 27 inches, made by Panasonic, and its a tube like TV with all the "junk in the trunk". I believe we paid about $250 for it. So can some explain to me how this is possible.

  • I have a question about volunteer work and getting accepted into Ivy League Universities?

I know that Ivy League Universities and Stanford look beyond your ACT scores and GPA. I know they want unique students and ones that do volunteer work. I've read other questions and answers people posted on Answers and one of them said that these universities want more than just local community service, they want national or international work i.e. building homes in New Orleans. This a 2 part question.

    1. Is it true that doing this unique kind of unique volunteer work would get me accepted into a ivy league uni?(My Gpa is 4.84/5.0- taking ap chem and us this year and ap eng german, calc BC, and gov&politics next year- always taken honors class not adv or reg -got As in majority and Bs in rest -ACT score 28(going to try a 2nd time)-volunteered at local library and youth prog. 4 200 hrs.)

    2. Would volunteering (since i live in Chicago) at Barack Obama's campaign headquarters be considered unique and on a national scale? (keeping in mind that come Nov 4 election day i still won't be 18)

I am doing a school project where we have to take a modern political issue and prove why or why not we need to enact a law to help American.

    I have Maternity Leave.

    Here is my question:

What is an appropriate amount of time a women should be given before her pregnancy and after her pregnancy for Maternity Leave?

(How long should a women for medical reasons or for child development reasons take maternity leave?

What would be the most important time after and before a child's birth to take off of work to care for a child?)

ALSO, when is a women most susceptible to post-pardon depression after her child's birth?

LAST ONE, is it beneficial to the child for the father to take paternity to care for the child and if so, for how long would it be beneficial to the child?

I prefer answers from doctors if you are out there epically OB/GYNs and Pediatrician, but if your very familiar with the topic i would be very grateful as well.

  • Dish Network vs Directv vs Comcast vs Verizon FiOS?

I don't know which one to choose. I am choosing the 200 channel plans. I like Dish because it offers more HD channels at the same price and is cheaper than the others. Their DVR look pretty good 2 but i dont really know. I read here on answers that however they have bad customer service compared to DirecTv which is better but cost somewhat more but lack the number of HD channel Dish has and costs more although they have TiVo the lack of HD channels is more disturbing to me and the fact that is cost more for less. Then again I am kinda against getting any satlitte carriers because i just moved to the Seattle area where it is cloudy 2/3 of the year and dizzles alot and i don't know wheather that will impact the channels I receive enough wheather it needs to be a downpour or not. THen there is comcast. Cable which cost a good deal more than satelitte. From the info i got i think they have like 7 HD channels compared to 20 with Dish Their DVR sucks but if you can get Tivo then i don't care.

  • I have a questtion about aircraft commonality between Airbus and Boeing Aircraft?

I know that Airbus aircraft use fly-by-wire techno. that allow crew to easily be trained to fly other larger or smaller aircraft in a matter of day 2 to 8 eventhough A340 is fuel grabby and the other aircraft and fuel effient and comfy

My question is why do airline companys then purchase all boeing fleet if the know that it is going to diffcult to train the crew and more diffucult to schdeule the crew because the different commonality. IF they have 737, 767, and 777 aren' t they going to lose money by having to integrate all these different aircraft that have different parts and technology

Whereas an Airbus fleet need different mechnics and parts for its, but the crew with a 3 or 4 day of training should be just fine and make the intergration fairly smooth

So then how is it the airlines are able to do this without worry about the added cost.Yes i know legacy carriers hav 5 or 6 different aircraft but if their trying to save money y dont they buy an all airbus insted boeing

  • Jetblue vs Southwest vs Skybus... Which Airline is the better value to fly on in both quality and price?

From what I can tell while they are all low cost airline they all have their bad sads and good side.

Jetblue. Offer DirecTV on its aircraft and Personal TVs for all (14 channels). 100 channels of XM Radio, free head phones, leather seat, nice flight attendants, and free snack and beverage, large amount of leg room for eco class, and wide seats.

Southwest. Fabric Seats, slightly narrower and leg room than Jetblue. Free peanut, but no drinks. No enterainment, but flight attendants are entertainment enough, though not on a long flight. Bring a Portable DVD player. Offer cheaper air ticket prices than JEtblue although does fly to secondry airports

Skybus. No food or drink at all, must purchase it on plane and cannot bring outside food in. No entertainment at all, need DVD player. $5 per checked bad (max2). FLy 2 airports of destinations 50 miles away. expensive shuttle fee. and less leg room than SW. Although if you can get 1 of the lower fare than total cost is less than Southwest

  • I'm sharing a room with other guys and i need to know what to wear to sleep?

I'm going on a field trip to springfield, IL and i have to share a room with 3 other guys. There are probably going to be only 2 beds, so I'm going to have to share a bed with one of them. We know each other, but we aren't exactly friends although we are friendly like toward each other.

I need to know what to wear when I go to sleep. I am not not sure what would be acceptable w/o being wierd. I prefer to wear as little as possible and not look awkward.

I know some of you are going to say see what others wear and wear the same, but what would you do in this situations if you also wanted to wear as less as possible.

    1) everyone wears T-shirt/tanktop and shorts

    2)everyone wears T-shirt/tanktop and underwear

    3) everyone wear their underwear

    4) one person wear T-shirt/tanktop and short, one person wears T-shirt/tanktop and underwear and one person just wears underwear

For 10 easy pts just tell wear u'd feel comfy wear and what u would do in the secenrios wearing less as poss.

  • While living in a dorm did you ever walk or chill out around in front of your roomie naked in college?

Or did ur roomie ever walk around naked in front of you? This is mainly for guys, but girls can answer too. How often was it? I guess this question could extend to a shared apartment? Would you be ok with it? If not why? What would you say to them? If it happened everyday?
