Contemplating a permanent residential move to Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a current retiree here in the U.S., can I receive my social security retirement check at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, and take it to my local bank in Buenos Aires to deposit it and make a withdrawal? Thanks for any answers or leads1 AnswerBuenos Aires5 months ago
Have always submitted paper 1040's and have a fed return so simple, no income or complex situations. How does one attach paper 1099's to their return if they want to file electronically, such as through the IRS Freefile program?6 AnswersUnited States9 months ago
This is a 900 sq ft 2 bedroom, 2 bath 2nd floor condo, one level. Existing ducting is not accessible, need only the compressor unit on the roof and, I think it's called air handler? in the hallway overhead, where the inside air enters through the vent, where the air filter is. This will be a new system, as the old one has R-22 refrigerant and is 20 years old. This is the Phoenix, AZ area. Looking at 2-3K for the compressor and parts, and maybe same in labor? Any ideas what would be reasonable?2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 year ago
Am re-entering U.S. from international vacation. Sold car before trip (6month duration), and now will re-enter the U.S, to live again. Will need to rent a car in order to search for a vehicle to drive, want to know if the $9-10 per day to cover damage collision is sufficient that is advertised on car rental sites that you reserve ahead of time? Has anybody been successful in adding that and did it suffice with the car rental company when you went to pick up your reserved car?
Thanks for any help here.....been years since I have rented a car and I know they will want to "soak" me at the counter for all kinds of coverage (actually can cost more per day for the insurance than the rent of the car per day)5 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 year ago
Is a licensed driver insured(visiting from out of area) in a vehicle owned and insured by a family member?
In other words, does insurance follow the licensed driver, or does the licensed driver follow the insurance? I will be borrowing a family member's car, but do not currently have auto insurance as I would have re-entered the U.S. after a lengthy visit/vacation.9 AnswersInsurance & Registration2 years ago
Plumbers...want to add a 2nd sink to an existing 6' vanity, which has a sink with 1 1/4 p-trap and drain line.?
This 2nd sink would be 42" -48" left of the original sink. Can I run the new p-trap and line (1 1/4 PVC) over the 4' distance and join up with a "T" into the sink extension tube and above the existing p-trap (and having a 1/4" slope per foot) ?4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)3 years ago
Married couple filing jointly, gets extra 12k to deduct from taxable income...sounds great. Now I see that the other hand is in my back pocket taking out the 8,100 personal exemption. What???? now my net positive impact is only 3,900 to take off my bottom line. OUTRAGEOUS.
But I shouldn't be surprised, have seen this same tactic over the years.
Some input please from those smarter than me, is this really the likely outcome of a new tax cut/reform bill?9 AnswersUnited States3 years ago
Why does my part-time employer take out soc.sec. and Medicare taxes and no fed. income tax on my paycheck?
I am 66 1/2, and work part-time maybe 15 hrs week. Why would my employer be taking out money for soc.sec and Medicare taxes and not fed income tax? The employer knows my age, as I started a month after 66. I need them to take out only fed income tax and none of soc sec and Medicare. Please explain. Maybe I need to see HR for an explanation9 AnswersUnited States3 years ago
Are you allowed to deduct (from your 1040 Fed income tax form), all home improvements you make each year you own your home for that year?
Some acquaintances of ours say they do that every year. I have yet to find any entries on the 1040 that allow that.If so, I would like you to do my taxes, please leave your card14 AnswersUnited States3 years ago
