The pain gets quite severe. I saw my doctor who said it's probably either a pinched nerve in the neck or carpal tunnel syndrome in the left wrist. He sent me for x-rays of the neck (lots of arthritis) and I'm getting a nerve test next week. I'm 71 so I'm long out of warranty and subject to aches and pains of all sorts. Have any of you experienced anything like this and if so, what did you do about it? For the nonce I've stopped playing guitar altogether (insert sad emoji here). Damn! Thanks in advance for any responses.

  • Speed Limit on Two-Way Streets?

I know this sounds like a colossally stupid question, but here goes: if there are speed limit signs only on one side of a regular two-way street is it safe to assume that it's the same speed limit in the direction without any speed limit signs?

Years ago I bought a PA system with an 8-channel powered mixer, two speakers, stands, microphones, cables galore, and so on. Transporting it became increasingly difficult for me, as I'm now 70. So a few years ago I bought a combo amp (Fishman Loudbox Pro) that conveniently has both an instrument channel and a microphone channel. I use it once a month when another guitar player and I volunteer at a local nursing home. Since there are two of us singing I bought a 2-to-1 microphone blender and plug the two mics into that and from there to the amp. His guitar doesn't have a pickup so I plug my guitar into the instrument input jack and that's that. It all sounds fine. Now, finally to the question: if we're going to add another person who will sing and play through the amp, what do I do? We'll have three mics and two guitars to be plugged in. I don't want to go back to the original mixer setup. I have seen some $100-ish unpowered mixers like this one: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio... Can I plug the three mics and the two guitars into that mixer and take a line output from that to my combo amp? Is there some other, better solution? Thanks in advance for any advice. Mike

And now to the question: is there a guitar (or some other instrument) that you played, passed by, and still regret not having bought? For me it was a Goodall acoustic guitar I saw at McCabe's in Santa Monica, California 10 years ago on a trip to the west coast (I live in New Jersey). It sang, it glowed, it was everything I've always wanted in an acoustic guitar. It was also $5100 which was a lot of money back in 2005. Even with the most understanding wife in the world - which I have - I wasn't sure how a purchase of that size would have been received, especially since I already have a few high end guitars already. Damn - I still think about that guitar.

Just for fun I took a Gibson SJ-100 - tag price $2999 - off the wall and played it awhile. It was not the worst guitar I've ever played but it sounded completely ordinary, much what I'd expect from a $300 or so acoustic guitar. It didn't sing at all as I expect a guitar in that price range should do. I am hoping to hear your experiences along these same lines. Surely I can't be the only one to encounter this.

In addition, I have always been a folk song buff so there were bits and pieces in the movie that I caught onto that I'm sure the rest of the audience did not. Bottom line, my wife and I absolutely hated this movie. I have no idea what the critics saw in it that we did not. We found the title character unsympathetic and uninteresting and found the story somewhere between thin and nonexistent. If you haven't seen it yet, save your $10 and wait for it to come out on DVD and then don't rent it.

If I look at a list of questions in a given forum, then answer a questions, and then hit the back button in the browser to return to the list of questions, I find that the list has changed dramatically. I'm not talking about the list having a few new questions at the top that came in while I was answering the question, I'm talking about a radically different list, typically with some older questions that I've already responded to now included in the list. The same thing happens when I go to Answers Home and bring up the list of questions I've responded to. If I look at one of the questions and then go back to the list, it's changed. Anybody else having this problem and does anyone know what's going on? Thanks in advance.

You can't see the question before you click on it. That totally sucks. 2. What's with the mania to shorten lists? It's foolish. I'm constantly clicking on "More" to finally get to my choice. If I click on "All Categories" I expect to see just that, not a short list and yet another stinking "More" button.
