I am looking to get Broadband hooked up to my flat soon. I'm going for no-contract broadband (plusnet probably) as I don't intend to stay there any longer than 6 months. They charge £40 for a wireless router, but I'd rather get a better deal elsewhere. If I was to buy a different wireless router would this work without any problems? If i have to configure the settings a bit to make it work is this a simple process? I'm no tech-head so I don't want anything too complicated.

If a prospective employer asks to "confirm in writing" I will be attending an interview, can i e-mail them?
Not sure if this is a daft question, but this morning I applied for a job. This afternoon I got an e-mail inviting me to interview and asking to confirm a time-slot. The e-mail ended with:
"Please confirm in writing if you would like to accept one of these interview slots.."
Ordinarily I would just send a written letter, but the interview is for this Thursday. Surely they don't intend to wait for a letter in the post?! Anyway I intend to respond first thing tommorrow, what should I do? E-mail or letter?

Basically I am planning on sign an Assured Shorthold Tenancy (for a period of 6 months). One section of the agreement states:
"Nothing in this agreement shall interfere with the right of the Tenant to vacate the premises upon 4 weeks written notice in that respect given by the Tenant to the Landlord at any time during the term created.."
Am I right in interpreting this to mean I can end the agreement before the termination date so long as I give 4 weeks notice? The section uses the phrase "right to vacate the Premises", is this the same as a right to end the tenancy?
Thanks in advance (oh, and I will be clarifying this anyway when I speak to my prospective Landlady tomorrow, I just wanted to find out before then!)1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate10 years ago
I am making my first foray into the pc buying market and just wondered if anyone know a good way to find out what sort of spec I should be looking for. I have had a look at some buyers guides online which have helped a little, but they are a little too technical for me and often hopelessly out of date.
If anyone knows a good site that can give me an idiots guide to choosing the right PC then that would be worthy of 10 points.
If you yourself are an expert then some advice would be appreciated. What I'm after is a decent gaming PC (not state of the art), be able to play/copy/store music and films, and some web browsing. Something upgradeable would also be handy for the future.

I have a job interview in the morning. The 'doctors appointment' excuse has been used recently and often invites annoying questions anyway, so I'd prefer not to use it.
I don't have a car so can't say I'm taking someone to the airport or something.
Anyway, 10 points for the best suggestion16 AnswersEtiquette1 decade ago
I have this cyst on my eye-brow. It is not painful at all and I can move it around when I touch it.
The doctor has told me that as it is benign I cannot get it removed through the NHS as it is purely cosmetic.
I have had a look on the internet but but can't seem to find out roughly how much this would cost to have removed in a private hospital. My nearest private hospital charges about £150 for a consultation alone and I don't want to spend that only to be told it would cost £2,000 or something crazy like that.
So basically any advice on how much this would cost or where I could get (free) advice from. I even sked my doctor and she said she had absolutely know idea how much such a minor op would cost.

I will soon be moving into a rented flat for about 6 months or so. I want to get broadband purely for gaming on my ps3. I don't have a laptop, though may get one at some point.
I don't want a landline, however I'm not really sure if I can have broadband without a landline.
Also I'm not sure what kind of download limits I should be looking at. Basically I just want some advice as to what type of broadband package to look for (like short term or mobile broadband, etc).
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks2 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade ago
Basically after about 10 minutes or so my laptop will begin to be very slow. Then the desktop theme appears to change to the really old grey style you used to get on older Windows computers. Then it just restarts, and I have to log in again. Could someone please help me, I have no idea what the root of the problem is. There is plenty of HDD space left on the computer. I'm guessing its probably on of the following:
1. The computer is about 6 years old, its time has come
2. It is overheating due to a fault or dust build-up, etc
3. There is a virus. This would be particularly troublesome as I can't run a virus scan (as it just turns off before it completes)
4. It is too slow to process, so just shuts down
Any advice is most welcome. However I am no techno-god or anything, so please keep it simple. If you require additional info let me know.

I have tried some online translators but the results are a bit inconclusive.
Here's the sentence:
Se om den här går hem då din korvgubbe?
If someone can translate this into English and give some possible replies (in Swedish) that would be awesome

Basically I am having some internet problems, losing connection or being signed out of the PSN when i play online on my ps3. Someone told me this could be because my brother uses file sharing websites like LimeWire a lot.
Can someone explain simply how these sites work and how it would affect my connection

i wanna get a ps3 headset but rely on a wireless internet connection. is it true bluetooth headsets can cause the signal strength to decrease? Also can you recommend a good headset?
Cheers4 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade ago
i wanna get a headset for me ps3. I'm a bit wary of buying one of those 'round the ear' jobs as they look uncomfortable. I'm seriously considering the logitech vantage bluetooth one which has an over the head fit and looks more comfortable. However i'm worried about the quality and reliability of a third party product. Any advice?

I am looking to spend no more than £20 and am thinking of getting the official Sony one as third party peripherals can be unreliable in my experience. Can anyone recommend a good one that is comfortable and with reasonable sound quality. (also tell me ones to avoid)
Thanks in advance guys!! (and gals)
I have a problem guys. I'm trying to print a booklet usng word 2007. However although the text is fine and appears where it should for the booklet, the pictures and clipart, etc seems to appear after printing on the opposite side to where they apper on the screen (often over the text that appears on the opposite page). I've tried changing the margin size to no avail. Can anyone help?
(note the original doc was made using word 2003, I saved it in 2007 and printed it and it was fine. Was only when i added some extra pages that everything went wrong, so not sure if there's a compatibility prob)1 AnswerSoftware1 decade ago

I'm gonna buy a next gen console next week but a little undecided as to which to buy. Could you answer some of the following questions to help.
1. Are Xboxs still really loud and as hideously unreliable as they used to be?
2. Are Microsoft gonna cut the price of the xbox to counter sony's recent move with the ps3 slim?
3.Do multi-plat games really look and play better overall on the Xbox?
4.Why do people say Live is better the PSN? (i.e is it worth the extra £5 pm)
5. Which of the two consoles has the better online content that is also value for money (or are they both pretty much the same)?
6. Anything else that either console has that may swing it? (leaving aside exclusives as i already know most of them)
Thanks in advance, 10 points of you can answer all questions.
