Many are so poor they're barefoot; many are carrying babies and small children. Super scary, isn't it?
Followup question: how many of you can quote a bible verse about how to deal with poor people seeking a better life? What is the verse? @miguel claims "several tens of thousands" but does he have a link?
@1st dragon: we already screen every asylum seeker. You knew that, right?
@jimmy: yes, "Christian nation" is a popular Republican buzzword, but Christian is as Christian does, right? Proverbs 14:31 (KJV) He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
John 3:17-18 (KJV) But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. @oracle & others: When it comes to homosexuality, republicans love to call us a "Christian nation" and quote Leviticus 18:22. But when it comes to poor people, we don't see many republicans even discussing the Christian approach. Why is that? Did you really think you can pick and choose only the easy parts of Christianity? Who do you think you're fooling?
