Evolution in experimental populations of bacteria. In: Population Genetics of Bacteria, Society for General Microbiology, Symposium 52, S. in order to be self-aware, apply concepts, and form judgements, in short, to have a mind, there must be objects that are external to a being that it can become aware of and grasp itself in relationship to. There can be no external objects for an omnipresent God, so he cannot have a mind. 1. A being with higher consciousness possesses two abilities A) the ability to discern between the object and a representation of the object, and B) the ability to apply concepts and form judgments about objects. 2. If a being has the ability to discern between the object and a representation of the object, and the ability to apply concepts and form judgments, then that being must be able to grasp the difference between the self and not-self. 3. A being is omnipresent when that being occupies or is present in all places, far or near, in all times, past, present, or future. 4. There is nothing that is not-self for an omnipresent being by definition of omnipresence. 5. So an omnipresent being cannot grasp a difference between the self and not-self. 6. Therefore, an omnipresent being cannot possess higher consciousness. 7. In short, God cannot have a mind because omniconsciousness is impossible. @no chance without jesus. i thought it was god that said he was omnipresent. not people? or are you saying someone in the bible just made it up? @gary b being omniscient is also a logical fallacy. if you accept that free will exists. @gary b god being onmnipresent is a belief not a fact. god's existence is a belief not a fact.

  • Christians, why do you redefine the word for belief and change it to mean evidence?

In all seriousness, this is really, really saddening to me. I wish I didn't feel like this, but oh, well.... this feeling has been buried deep inside the closet for years and it's dragging itself out. I can't handle it anymore. And I don't know how to break it to my family and I don't want to stop going to church. Mom is the only Mormon in the family, though, and she's very happy in the church. I was the first convert and although she is very understanding and sweet, I know she will be sad if I told her I don't believe anymore.... and so would be the people at church. They love me and I love them like family and I don't ever want to break ties with them. I like going to church, I like the Mormon moral principles and that won't ever change, it's just that I don't believe in the Book of Mormon anymore and there are many things that make me think the Mormon church is a shady organization *says very nicely* I'm an age age in which I should be either married or on a mission but instead I'm single and working full-time in an out-of-state internship, and I'm afraid my bishop would bring up the mission subject again when I return home next year. This is stressing and I will always believe in God and what Jesus did for us. I think I want to remain a non-denominational Christian. Just me and my Bible. But again, I want to continue going to the Mormon church to have a place of worship to go (I believe that all Christian churches are well-intentioned no matter what they believe, and that they honestly seek God and are blessed by Him) ...I just don't everyone to be all over me telling me to pray and fast about it, judging me and expecting me to believe it all or nothing.

    1. He is all knowing (Sees you when you're sleeping, knows when you're awake) 2. Judges you in the end (Christmas = around end of the year) 3. Rewards those who believe in him 4. Punishes those who don't 5. Has many followers only found in his land that help him carry out his plan (sending toys to the believers)

Atheists say that they don't believe in gods. Many religious people will ask, "Did you have a bad experience with a church-goer?" Or "Did your parents try to force you to be religious?" Or "Is there something in religion that you see as an attack on your personal lifestyle?" Why the assumption that everyone REALLY believes, and that we lie and say we don't because of some deep, dark, Freudian reason? Why would we lie? What's so hard to understand about "I don't believe it"? . I've had friendly arguments with some religious people who tried to use logic, and examples, and intellectual reasoning to back up their beliefs. So I know the ones who are assuming atheists are just lying are not the only ones there are. But why do SO MANY assume that we are simply not telling the truth when we say we just don't believe in that stuff? VERY disappointing, Fireball. You're dancing around the question. I always thought you were more honest than that. .

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear in to their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards. There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. Not original, copypasta from 4chan.
