I'm a Reiki teacher and my priest knows this. I'm not a confirmed Catholic yet but I hope to become one. There's been massive debate with bishops and reiki teachers in March - I've found much stuff on the web but a lot of it gives quotes like "Since Reiki therapy is not compatible with either Christian teaching or scientific evidence, it would be inappropriate for Catholic institutions, such as Catholic health care facilities and retreat centers, or persons representing the Church, such as Catholic chaplains, to promote or to provide support for Reiki therapy," the Guidelines said." and here's a link to another page with a short article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/mar... What I want to know, does this mean my priest has a right to stop be being confirmed based on the fact that I teach Reiki? ps...just heard from a lady who was involved with discussing it with the bishops. The vatican have NOT prohibited it but the bishops involved in discussion with Reiki representatives have said it's not appropriate for chaplains, nuns etc to continue using it...and it shouldn't be used in catholic hospitals and that kind of thing. So as it turns out, unless anything changes, it shouldn't affect my becoming a full church member XX

So God put us on a planet where we are not meant to live eternally. It's clear he did it for a test or a lesson ! Seems we are to learn consequences and to be tested to see if we can live in love ! Would it make for logic or reason if God came to fix all the problems? What about consequences? how would we learn or how would we be tested? Seems to me if God where to answer every whim we have there would be no point in being here. So Logic would say that God would remain hidden, and when needs be send a Messenger if the majority where in real danger. So to say God is not real because he never gave me my request would be illogical! Yes ---- No ? I know some say what about the starving in the world? But I quote Jesus, Love your enemy give to the poor, I was thirsty and you gave me drink ! I was hungry and you fed me ! Etc What ever you do to the least of these you do it to me ! Logos!(Jesus) told us we are responsible for the poor, NOT God, he has provided enough for everyone, so if we don't share the wealth, how can God be responsible when he told us to do it! It's a real cop out to blame God for not doing our duty for us. Yes----- NO? Unless your logic is different from mine I can't see how anyone can say God is not real because he doesn't answer my prayers or there is hungry in the world. Thanks for reading. Invisible Talker, I don't think it is God learning the lesson here, it is us. My logic is not flawed you say God never shows himself But he has sent messenger after messenger, no less than his only begotten son! UNGH, We're talking about a test of "will you believe in me" in which he refuses to make belief in him justified. Right. That's a logical god. Your wrong, this is never what God said NEVER, he said feed the poor etc if you do this I will raise you up on the last day. It never was about worshiping God he needs nothing from us, but our Brothers and sisters do. God wants nothing for himself he only asks for justice and mercy on our part that's the test and we are failing miserably.

If Catholics are different from Christians? Are the people who ask this really so unfamiliar with basic middle school history? In 1517, Martin Luther started the protestant reformation. Before that, there was only one Christian church, the Catholic Church. Now there are two main branches of Christianity: One is Catholics, including the Eastern Rite, Latin Rite, etc. The other one is protestants, which is EVERYBODY WHO IS NOT CATHOLIC. To me this is as basic as ABC, but it feels like the question gets asked at least a few times every week. Catholicism is original Christianity, so the question is borderline ridiculous. Free Thinker: the Orthodox Church is not called the Eastern Rite. Bill: Your history is a little off: The church set up after Jesus's ascension was the Catholic church. Arius and the Meletian Schism were not separate worshiping bodies. They were apostates.

As in, the last Christians on earth who vote for the most powerful political person are here in the US. I believe that it's Evangelical then Baptist types. These are the last group of Christians whose votes make up the most powerful man in the world, who is also Baptist I believe. So since the Catholic Church has no more political power to call armies or anything of that nature, isn't that proof that God punished them and blessed the others denominations? well, let's look at history. Jews messed up, God took their power. Catholics messed up too, so it's actually safe to assume God took their power. Right? ^_^ Well, the Catholic Church can't call armies up anymore, because I assume God saw that they just couldn't handle that power. But He did leave our Congress President, who also gets voted in by Christians, mostly Evangelical and Baptist again. oh yeah, I forgot about the whole abortion issue. ^_^ His Political Power was usless, but was He not a King? true, but now all the Catholic Church can do is issue statements, of either doctrine or apologies, they don't have a military to back them up anymore. And that's what God took away, I assume. ^_^ and what do you mean Jews didn't mess up, it's in the Hebrew Bible that you did. The End of II Kings. Solomon was messing with other women of other nations, and God told him to stop but he didn't, and he started worshipping other gods. So God said He would allow Israel to be destroyed, but not in Solomon's reign for the sake of King David, but in his son's reign. And that's why Isreal was defeated in the Reign of King Solomon's son, because he messed up. ^_^ I meant, Congress and the President. :) yep, really. ^_^ I assume.. look it up in YOUR Hebrew Bible, God allowed Isreal to be destroyed. And it wasn't Christians fault, we didn't exist then. ^_^
