Leave it in the filter (the water drains out) or should I do something else? In the past I have dropped the media into the tank just to keep it wet.

  • Is garlic safe for fishes?

Not literal garlic, but fish food dipped in garlic juice, or food from Petsmart that contain garlic. I've heard it can boost their immune system and help taste, but I'm not sure. I've also read before that garlic can harm fishes short and long term without any benefit. Is that true?

  • Why are "fish" bowls bad?

Lets say that there was a 6-7 gallon fish bowl. If there was a sponge filter, gravel, and a very small heater in it, would it still be bad? Does the small surface area have something to do with it being bad? I'm wondering because everybody says bowls are bad, but if they're filtered and heated, are they still bad if they have a good... show more

We have 2 dogs always in the house, but they don't seem to make me sick. It only seems to be when they're "living" in my room. I got a dwarf Hamster about a year ago and I felt really nauseated during the first week or so we had him and i hardly ate anything. He was given away later, and an outside cat of ours had kittens, which my mom allowed me to love them into my room to take care of them, but the nauseated feelings came back so we ended up having to put them back outside :( I got a new rabbit today and it's in my room and the nauseating feeling is back. I really don't understand what's wrong with me. Has anybody else felt like this?

  • What type of snail could this be?

I normally advise against ever purchasing live aquatics from WalMart....but one day they had a score of large, blackish-brown snails in little cups for sale. I bought one--all the label said was 'snail in cup.' I named him Spyridon (not actually sure if it's male, female, or hermaphrodite). Spyro is about 3"long, almost that... show more

The body is dark brown, almost black. His shell is brown with goldish rings. Typical roundish hell with a little upturned curl at the end. I've been feeding him algae pellets, he seems to like them... What kind of snail is he??? >.> I don't know how to get a picture of him on here.
