Read before you vote Subject: Interesting info that everyone needs to know before you vote. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent..... these are the facts . Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008 Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500 Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500 Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000 Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250 If you want to know just h ow e ffecti ve the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If any democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened. Your Social Security Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican. Facts are Facts!!! Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised: 1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary, 2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program, 3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year, 4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and, 5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away' ----------------------------------------... Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it? A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate. ----------------------------------------... Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? A: The Democratic Party. ----------------------------------------... Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US ----------------------------------------... -------- Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so. AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!! A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you h av e. -Thomas Jefferson

There are many Christians here including myself. My question is how far will you go to harmonize pop culture and worshipping our God/Christ? There is a clear movement in the country to satisfy our religion and political correctness. God and His Word does not change but our religion changes with the wind. And these changes are chalked up to 'advancement/acceptance/elevation' of our faith. Every day that goes by we marginalize the biblical text because it isnt politically correct or doesnt jive with what we would have done if we were God. We dont understand the flood so we religate it to a fairy tail. We try to accomodate the homosexual so we throw out scripture as 'mis'interpreted'. We allow female pastors in opposition to the bible. We are making men less masculine and less manly in regards to our admonishion to being the leader of church and family. We are making women less affemenate in their roles in church and family. And on and on it goes. And now we have churches that are all inclusive despite what you believe. Some people sit there worshipping 'god' while the guy next to you doesnt believe in Jesus while the guy on the other side believes that God and ala are the same god. Where will it end?

I've heard a lot of Americans talking about the freedoms they have as an American, and some who seem to think that the US is the only with those freedoms. Are there any freedoms that the US has that the UK, Canada, and Australia, for instance, don't have? Please try to answer in a tolerant way. sherpa_jones - you can buy private healthcare here in the UK. We also have freedom of speech, the press and right to protest in the UK, and I'm pretty sure Australia and Canada have those things too. So far, I agree that the right to bear arms is something the US has and the UK hasn't, though I think Canada does. And the smoking in pubs thing is something the US has and the UK doesn't.

I am highly confused, within my own mind, about this murder, double murder, and yet abortion is o.k. 'double standard' thing. I seldom get into this category, so if this is a question that has asked before, please forgive my entering into this category, uninformed. Thanks, I'M HERE

  • To sin or not to sin?

I have heard some say (mainly atheist) that they do not believe in sin. Do you classify things as wrong doings? How about thinks like murder and rape? What exactly about the word sin (which simply means wrong doing) upsets you?

In 1 Corinthians Paul talks about eating food sacrificed to idols and making a brother sin. He basically says that it does not matter one way or the other but if eating it would be a stumbling block to a brother then he would not do it. This lead to a question. Catholics have many statues of saints and do some things that look like idolatry, even though it is not. However as this could easily make a weaker brother fall and end up in idolatry does that make it wrong? Is it possible the Catholic church should remove the statues rather than possibly cause a weaker brother to sin? This is meant as a serious question and not an attack. Just something that came to me from someone' answer and I was curious to see the replies. st.aliaoftheknife - You must not have met some of the people I have met. I think some people would worship a potato. Andrew M - I don't have a problem with Catholics. This is not an attack but more a food for thought question. Tina T - Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. JUST BECAUSE IT SEEMS NOT TO BE CLEAR TO SOME. I AM NOT CALLING CATHOLICS IDOL WORSHIPERS. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY ARE. I AM JUST ASKING A SIMPLE QUESTION. NOT MEANT TO INSULT OR MAKE ANYONE MAD. tebone0315 - I tried to make it clear you do not make them idols. But a weaker brother could see it differently. Fireball226 - So you just ignore the teachings of the Bible?

Focused Attacks "And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts." — Mark 4:15 Temptation comes to everyone, but the enemy focuses many of his attacks on those who are young in the faith and those who are making a difference in the kingdom. After our conversion the devil is there, tempting us to doubt our own salvation. He whispers in our ears, "You think you are saved? You think Christ really came into your life? Are you crazy?" This is just a tactic the enemy keeps recycling again and again. The Bible tells us that when we are young in the faith, we are especially vulnerable. We see in the parable of the sower that young believers are immediately attacked. Jesus said, "And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts" (Mark 4:15). He is there to attack those who are young in the faith. Temptation also comes to those who are making a difference in the kingdom of God. First of all, he doesn't want you to come to Christ. But once you have made that commitment, his next strategy is to immobilize you, to get you to compromise yourself and be ineffective. He doesn't want you to be a threat to his kingdom. If you want to make a difference, if you want to reach people who don't know the Lord, then don't expect a standing ovation in hell. The enemy won't take it lightly. He will attack you. You had better expect it. Brace yourself for it, and pray for other believers, whether they are new in the faith or are already making a difference.
