  • Do you get free food from McDonald's if order takes more than 10mins?

Our policy is, if someone is waiting more than 600 seconds (10 minutes) to offer free dessert. We also keep food back in a complaints book where a customer can have a replacement, if they ask. Remember, if you don't ask, you don't get! :D

  • Do i have to pay Mcdonalds the money my till was down?

Don't worry about it! Things like this happen. The worst they can give you at this stage is a first written warning. You might get a 'cash retraining slip' which will be held on your file (if you accrue more than three within six months you do get a warning, but these warnings are null and void after another six months. Even so, don't worry about it, and do not doubt your own integrity. Also if your store uses a cash dispenser on the drive-thru lane, this can funk things up as well, as the markers are very unclear. Also:lock your till when you go on your break, and print out/take note of your last order to make sure nobody uses your till.

  • Got caught eating fries at Burger King and am required to pay for customers' food?

If you were at risk of being fired, you would have been suspended. A few fries can be a serious issue even at fast food places; just a few fries can really affect their costs. The manager may need to explain this to you and explain the policy, so don't panic too much. As others have said, accept responsibility, apologise, and dissuade other newer employees from such actions. Also bear in mind it does not look good to customers if they see employees eating food straight from the kitchen.

  • Will Mcdonalds fire me?

It's called a probationary period, whether they find out if you are right for them, and if the job suits you. It is wrong of them to even use the term 'fired', or erroneous for you to be using it. Try not to worry about it; most staff do pass the probationary period, unless they are particularly slack, or break rules. Chill out. :) show more

However our new clocking system is very strict in adhering to the European Working Time Directive (I live in the UK) and younger employees have to take breaks after four hours (if you're over 18 we are not supposed to work more than 6 hours without a break). If you are having difficulties, speak to your manager, who should understand. If they do not comply, talk to your scheduling manager or the business manager, who should make sure you are taking the correct amount of breaks.

  • Why does McDonalds always say their ice cream machines are broke at night?

Daily, the machines need to go on a 'heat treat' cycle which lasts for a couple of hours. This is to kill bacteria in between cleans, which are done weekly. Older machines do not have the 'heat treat' option, and do need to be cleaned and sanitised every day, and the night shift is the most convenient time to do this. I used to hate doing closes for this sole reason; it was always so fiddly cleaning all the pieces, hoping they wouldn't go down the drain, and running sanitiser through the lines was tedious; any delay and the staff were held back at least half an hour. Now we have a modern machine that only needs deep cleaning once a week (apart from emergencies such as accidental cross contamination or premature activation of the heat treat cycle). Our maintenance dude does this on a Friday morning, but each store is different.

At this point you are probably not 'on the system' ( it takes up to a couple of weeks, though it should only take days), so call the manager to verify.

You should be completely off work for 48 hours from the last time you were physically sick, this gives a chance for the stomach virus to dissipate. This is a health and safety issues, so although you may lose money, your managers should comply.

The examiner has a different point of view from the driver, but will need to be able to see a similar perspective as the driver, so a mirror is essential. The DSA is not known for its generosity, and funding for examiners to have their own mirrors is a pretty low priority, especially as most tests are undertaken in driving school cars, which already have them installed for the instructor's benefit. As long as your car is road-legal (although there are some models of car you cannot use on tests, such as a VW Beetle convertible, and Toyota iQ, due to back window visibility issues), you should be able to take the test in your own car. As for the second point, it depends on the instructor. Your instructor is probably being strict to try and get you into good driving habits, as second gear is the best for negotiating roundabouts and corners. It also depends on the roundabout; some roundabouts on the nearby 'A' roads near me are big enough that you can negotiate it in third most of the time. When you sit your test it is best to play it by the book and be cautious (but not overly so, as this will fail you as well!) but as long as you drive safely at an appropriate speed, you will be fine. Once you start driving independently, you will learn more than you did on your lessons, such as what gears your car can handle in different situations, and you may even find it runs better on one brand of petrol than others (Mine seems to favour Sainsbury's, and hates Morrison's, lol! ) Best of luck. :)

  • How long do new employees usually last at McDonalds?

I have been there 5 years this week. I had my first trainee last Sunday, he seems like he may last the course. Quite a few, especially younger ones, only last a week or two before quitting. Surprisingly, the restaurants in my area have quite low staff turnover, but about 40% of the staff are students, who only stay maximum of three years. show more

  • How can pizza hut be closed due to the cold weather?

The majority of staff may not have been able to get in and they may be short staffed and unable to provide this service as well as eating in restaurant service. Also sending delivery staff out may be a risk to their personal safety, and they do not want customers running the risk of coming out for the sake of a pizza.
