Disability living allowance appeal?

Hello. I recently applied for dla & got refused. I sent back a GL24 form telling them I was appealing against the decision. Today I recieved a letter saying the following:

"Thankyou for your letter telling us you want to appeal.
We are looking again at all the information that we have. If you have not heard anything from us within 11 weeks, please feel free to get in touch with us.
Remember, if anything you told us about yourself changes you must let us know straight away. It may affect the amount that we can pay you."

End of letter.

Does this mean they are going to think about their decision again without going to appeal, or is it just a standard letter they send out before going to appeal?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Just so you know, I am a genuine claimant and not just someone trying to scam the system.

Thankyou very much.

At the moment it appears that they are going to review the information you have supplied.
They turn down 60% of first time applications which is why the filling out of the form is so important and if you are asked to fill in another one the Citizens Advice Bureau offer help to get it right.

They may well also in the time frame contact your Dr or hospital consultant to confirm the information. Then they will get back to you and may well invite you for a medical assessment.
As you say of you are genuine it will all be fine and they back date it to the date on the original form.
