What are the checked-in luggage weight restrictions from the UK to Brazil via Madrid?

I heard that weight restrictions have recently changed, but everyone seems to be giving me different answers. The international airline told me it's two items of a max. of 23kg per person. The connecting airline from Gatwick to Madrid told me it's only one item of 20 kg per person. And my travel agency has told me it's one item of 23kg per person. Does anyone know what the current luggage allowances are? Thanks in advance!

Every airline has different luggage weight allowances for different routes and destinations, and for different passengers. If you have a full fare ticket, most probably you have 2 checked bags free..... Therefore you really have to check on your airline's website to make sure. If you bought one single ticket to your destination that includes connecting flights, the allowance you should use is the one from your 1st departure city to your final destination. If you have separate tickets for your domestic and international flights, you'd have to following those for each individual airline.
