The sales in Milan are in January and July. The dates of the sales are posted here: http://www.sottocoperta.net/eventi/saldi… Not everywhere has posted their dates for the 2010 winter sales yet, but Milan will start on the 2nd of January.

Other than that, try the StockHouse in Inverigo near Como, the Outlet Serravalle, or Mendrisio which in across the border in Switzerland very close to Como. The Foxtown Outlet Mall there is good.

You have to find the 'outlets'. They aren't in Milan though as the previous person mentioned. In town you only really find the designer stores.

Forget about finding 'really cheap' designer clothes. You'll find discounts of maybe 40%, but that doesn't necessarily make them cheap. I guess that depends on your budget though.

Mm... this isn't exactly true: shops in Milan aren't cheap! However, wintry sales start on 2nd January and last for some weeks; then, summer sales start around 15th June. In these period in every shop you can find things at good prices (not new collections, of course).

Then, all around Italy there're these outlets, where you can find discounted things (most of them from old collections) every day. They aren't exaclty near Milan. I can suggest you:
    - Serravalle

    - Fidenza Village

    hi jo,
well actually milan is not cheap at all, especially as far as good, griffed and fashionable cloths... there are many outlets though... i always go there for shoes. but, as someone else said, they are more likely to be outside the city. I can suggest you Parabiago: it's a little town where all the best shoes are made (fratelli rossetti, luciano padovan...) and you can purchase them right from the factories, and at a lower price (half price more or less...). it's really worth a visit!

to go there from milan you can take the train or the bus from cadorna station (train) or molino dorino (bus)!

mail me if you want to know more about that, i can help you!
