Is Harrow Weald in North West London or Middlesex or both?

I was just wondering, because lots of people say different things to me whether it's in London or Middlesex

Harrow Weald forms part of the London Borough of Harrow.

In 1965 Middlesex was almost completely absorbed into London under the 1963 London Government Act. A few small bits were transferred to Surrey and Hertfordshire.

It can still be used as a postal address.

The postal service still uses Middlesex as a geographic boundary, but there is no elected Middlesex County Council. Harrow Weald is administered by Harrow Borough Council, although some powers, such as policing, are exercised by the London Mayor and Assembly. If you state a correct postcode, there is really no need to include "Middlesex" in a written address, so the term is dying-out. Younger people (under 50) are more likely to understand where you're from if you say Harrow or North West London. For foreigners the term "London" is probably sufficient, and less confusing if your land line number starts with 020-.
