In Phonm Phen
Accommodation: #9 Guest House right on the lake, noisy but great atmosphere. I tell you the rooms are not great here but the location is outstanding. Sunsets smoking pot on the floating dock are stunning in more ways than one. Actually, most of the rooms are on floating docks. This is not a fancy place but very cool. The owner is Sohkeng, his wife Leah is beautiful and a great Cambodian cook. If it drives you too crazy, head towards the central market.
There are loads of guest houses and cheap hotels between the market and the Riverside. Lots of pricey stuff as well. My new Back Packer place of choice is the Okay Guesthouse. Cheap rooms and good food. Hook ups for all transfers and visas etc. No worries here. Nice location as well with easy access to the river and major tourist sites. About 2 blocks from the palace.

In Siem Reap:
Accommodation: Dead fish inn. Good location but it can be a little noisy. Molly Malone’s costs a little more but has 4 poster beds and is quite nice. Of course there are all kinds of hotels here from $1000 a night to $5 a night.
The Siem Reap Hostel
Rated as one of the best Hostels around. This place has it all. In-door pool, food, terrace, free computers, nice bar with big screen TV for events and a great location. A couple of blocks from Pub Street. Its got dorm rooms and regular rooms from $8 to $15 dollars. One of the few places with a 24 hour lobby it’s a cut above the competition. A good buffet breakfast as well.
Golden Mango Inn
A little farther out but a lot cheaper. A very clean guest house with helpful staff . Rooms from $5 to $7 dollars and free transportation to town. (you do have to pay to get back. Generally about $2.)

Don't miss the Funky Monkey for great western food and thrusday night quiz night. its a blast.
