How much will it cost me to make a local call when travelling abroad?

I'm with vodafone and will be travelling to Canada - how much will they charge me for a local Canadian call (on oay as you go).

As you have posed this question from the UK, you may well have problems unless you have a tri-band 'phone as the Canadian system is incompatible with the vast majority of 'phones for the European market.In which case you should go to your local "Vodafone" shop and ask them if if your 'phone is compatible with the Canadian system (800MHz / 1,900MHz digital and 800MHz analogue), most European phones are 900MHz and 1800MHz frequencies.If they say YES, then the following charges apply:

Making a call £1.25 per minute or part thereof
Receiving a call 99p per minute or part thereof
Texts - 35p

The network your 'phone will pick up will be Rogers Wireless if it is compatible.

you can't make a local call (to a canadian number) from a UK registered SIM. You'll be stung for roaming charges + an international call to canada. You'll have to check your contract or call them. There are so many deals and options it's impossible to say.

Don't forget you'll be really stung for received calls as well.

it impossible to make a "local call" to the UK if your outside the country. its no longer local hehehe
