Best town to live in with family between London and Cambridge?

My husband will be working in Cambridge, and i might get a job in London. What is the best place to stay, so that it is convenient to both of us in terms of travel time and money. Pls advice

I agree with David about living in Cambridge but he's got the train stuff wrong. They go from Cambridge to Kings Cross in 45-60 minutes and Liverpool Street in 1 hour 20 minutes. Cambridge has history, culture, good shopping and good restaurants; most of the towns between Cambridge and London are pretty awful.

this means average door to door of 1.5 hrs one way. How common is this kind of commute time in UK for working professionals and is it practical?
