Parking in Glasgow at New Year?

I am going up to Glasgow for New Year at George Square, but where can I park the car without paying an arm and two legs?

I done it a few years ago, no problem.

On Cathedral street, where all the colleges and university's are, there are loads off little side-streets leading into the grounds of the colleges/unis. Simply park the car in one of these side streets. That what we did. Simple and your a 2 minute walk, at the most, from George Square.

KatieP: Only one of the side strees has a barrier and even then its half way up the street. I parked on Allan Glen Place.

Ha! Good luck with that!

You can try the Buchanan Galleries car park, if you get into town early, you can park there and get a 7-8 hour ticket so that you can go shopping and then go to GS.

I don't think you will be able to park on Cathedral Street like informer said.

If I am thinking of the same area he mentioned, there are not "side streets" as such but there is parking around the Strathclyde University student villages. The entrance has a barrier, and the parking inside is only for those who are granted access. He may have just been lucky that the barriers were not down, or it was before they existed.

I used to live on campus in Cathedral Street.

park at a friends house share the taxi back and forth .safer as most likely you will have been drinking .or try parking at one of the big mall stores asda morrissons etc and make sure no goodies in the car .cell phones ,laptops, or whatevr expensive stuff you have and get an alram and a lock for driver wheel.

we always park in the gorbals and just walk over the bridge 10mins to George sq.
