Moving to stamford or Peterborough.?

My husband and I are planning to move to either peterborough or stamford because of a new job in peterborough. I haven't got much positive feedback on peterborough. Any ideas how living in stamford is ? Are the people friendly ? We are a young family. We could always pop over the neighbouring towns for activities and stuff if there isn't much in stamford. As long as stamford is a nice place to live in.

Thanks.

Hello there

I think its the same with most places - theres always bad areas to most cities, altho I've not encountered anything bad when I've been out and about around there.

Stamford is a lovely old town tho, and probably nicer to bring your children up around there too. Also the schools might be nicer? Bourne is a nearby town too, its got some nice schools and very quiet - although a lot of old people around there.

Peterborough has a cinema - Stamford has the Arts Centre which has one screen and means your film selection is limited - but then a trip to Pboro in an evening isn't such a problem. Bars and pub life in both places is ok.

Check out the council websites for amenities information, and maybe a visit and pick up some local newspapers for a look at whats happening around the area (maybe check out the Rutland and Stamford Mercury online, and The Evening Telepraph - for pboro) the headlines might give an indication of how the two compare.

I'd probably say Stamford is a great choice for a young family, with travelling to Peterborough for the shopping (Queensgate centre), cinema and maybe some other entertainment.

Born in Stamford, go out in Peterborough, live nearby.
