Can you help me find this market town?

I saw a picture of a small town, there was a large tarmac market square and in the square there was at least one defencive tower type thing very small only approximately 12ft tall. It looked medieval but could even be modern temporary thing just for show.

To the right behind quite old looking shop fronts was a church with a tall steeple and straight in front amongst old houses/shops was a small church/chapel with a very low, blunt pyramid shaped steeple.

Outside the town within quite long walking distance was a large field where a fair or event was going on, there was a very high fence at the entrance.

I suspect the picture was from the 70's definitely before 1981 and i get the feeling it is in Ireland although it could be anywhere in Britain.

I Know this is a poor description but i thought someone might know what i am talking about. I no longer have access to the picture

Unfortunately the description could be any one of hundreds of market towns. The only clues would be in the type of brick or stone used in the buildings.

Sounds similar to South Shields old town hall and market square. But the old town hall is little bigger then 12ft. they is a church in the background.
