FLYING TO TURKEY ALONE?

me and two friends want to go to turkey next year but we are all 17
im getting really frustrated becuase all of the airlines say that u have to be 18 to fly without an adult
but i have known of people who are even younger than me and flew on their own!!!!

surely it would be fine with a letter of consent from a parent

i thought it was all sorted until i phoned up today and the woman said no you cant fly unless one of you are 18
arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i dont know what to do

does anyone know of any airlines that will let you fly under 18?

help would be appreciated :)

That's life. You'll just have to wait another year to travel to Turkey. In the meantime, go someplace you can easily reach by train instead, or ferry. But don't come to Ireland because you won't be served alcohol in pubs at all, and you won't be allowed into pubs after 9 pm.

use another way of transportation, i.e. go to France by bus or any other place like Spain for instance. until you are 18 then you can fly anywhere.

I flew to the USA and back with my friend when I was 11 and he was 10.

When I flew to Tenerife a couple months back there was a girl who mustn't have even been 10 flying by herself.

So who are you talking to because they must be either misinforming or misunderstanding you

You can fly within the EU, but not out of it. I would also really look into Turkish law on that one as many countries would actually stop you from entering if you are classed as an 'unsupervised minor.'
I love Turkey as a country and have been many times but you need to be aware that laws and rights are not as liberal as they are within EU countries and the last thing you want is trouble. I once had the military police empty my whole suitcase by the side of a motorway just because I am young aand travelling alone with Turkish people.

I have been flying intercontinental since i was 7 alone. If your really young your parents can give a consent and they give you a paper you hang on your neck which i felt i was like a cargo box. Also let your parents do the reservations for you. Most big airlines are fine with it. However for Turkey the best would be Turkish Airlines and they fly from multiple destinations from Europe & States.
