Is this called backpacking?

When you go from country to country, working and living there to fund your travel to like the next country? If you can understand what I'm trying to say, sorry if you cant :)

I Have been travelling with a backpack for 20 years
and yes I call it backpacking.

Yup, that's one definition.

The other would be travelling whilst living as cheaply as possible - staying at youth hostels or on friends floors etc...

In short, it is travelling without an agenda, and with little money.

backpacking is any type of travelling where you live cheaply and carry your clothes in a backpack

oh yes ,, that's the original meaning, although there are those ramblers who would lay claim to it but the modern origins are not as the aussies would have you believe there's but good old English European summer holidays
