Have you been to Ephasus ?

When we go on holiday we like to see the way people live (not just sit around the pool/bar). We are thinking of Turkey next, and Ephasus was reccommended by a friend. Is Ephasus just about religion? We are not religious people.

Do you mean Ephesus? It's an ancient Greek/ Roman site with preserved ruins...no religion at all! Obviously many of the ruins are religious in context such as temples but there are lots of social aspects to the ruins , how life was then etc...a Gladiator Graveyard, preserved Roman street, homes etc.

Well worth a visit - I loved it. The heat is horrific though and there is no shade, do not even contemplate going without a hat!

There are lots of thing sto do in Turkey apart from the pool - I'd recommend soke market if you are going to the usual tourist spots on the south coast, it's a real taste of Turkish life away from the touristy stuff. If you are squeamish don't go though ;)
