Why are bus drivers allowing commuters using the 25 bus to go free without paying?

not only the 25 bus - London, but many buses. Seems like TFL are losing out in revenu if this continues as people won't bother buy an oyster for their 25 bus journey...

Bus drivers working for East London Buses are very fed up at present as they are involved in a long running pay dispute. Also the 25 is operated by Bendy buses and it is impossible for drivers to really control what people do who enter through the middle and rear entrances. Bus driving is an exceedingly difficult job - coping with the traffic and passengers. Bus drivers all over London are additionally very anxious at present as Mayor Boris Johnson is instigating a 5% cut in bus mileage next year which will lead to many redundancies

It depends whom the passengers on the 25 bus are. Children under age 16 go free on all London buses. Also most of us pensioners, myself included, are quite often simply waved through by the driver. Londoners can get the FREEDOM PASS from age 60+ - it costs nothing and in the case of my borough of Greenwich, it allowes for free travel on buses, tubes, trams, overhead mailine within London all FREE 24/7.

The only people paying fares on the buses are the workers. As in, "it's the rich wot gets the money and it's the paw wot gets the blime, eye'nt it all a blinkin shime".

The Good news is that from c2nd January 2010 - everyone will be able to use their PAYG (Pay As You Go) Oyster card on all forms of transport here in London, including overhead rail - BoJo has done a deal with the railway companies to allow for this. Not only that, but fares may drop by as much as 30% in some cases - yeeeehaa!

Please note, FREEDOM PASS holders are not restricted any more - we can travel any time 24/7 and often do. I work part time nights in central London and never have to pay a fare going into and out of work, no matter what time of day it is.
