Single Entry Schengen Visa?

Hi,
I have been issued a single entry schengen Visa for Belgium. I intend to travel from Brussels to Paris, then Barcelona. From Barcelona, I'm off to Basel. I just noticed that the night train from Barcelona to Basel passes through France. As my Visa is single entry, will i be refused to transit France? or will need a transit visa? I have tried to contact the French embassy in London but there 09 line is automated and doesn't answer my questions. Thanking you in advance.

The "single entry" is a single entry into the Schengen Zone, which includes all the places you've named, Belgium, France, Spain, and Switzerland, so your single entry will be at Brussels, and you will remain in the Schengen Zone until after you leave Basel, so you're OK.

You can travel but you can't work or reside. There are no border checks between mainland EU countries. You passport will almost certainly never be requested.

Switzerland isn't an EU country. And neither is Norway.

Not too sure. One thing is certain, once you leave a Schengen country, then you cannot re-enter. You should be OK, but I can't give you a hundred percent guarantee.
Tokyo Ste. Be careful! In August I flew from Beijing, transit in Vienna and then on to Switzerland. My passport was not checked in Zürich. However, I recently had a West African come to me for help. He had a valid passport and a Spanish ID card which confirmed his permanent residence status in Spain. He flew into Switzerland and was 'taken apart' on arrival. They confiscated his passport and his Spanish ID card. It took me over a week to get his documents back, so that he could return to Spain.
Veronica V. Switzerland is a Schengen signatory and has applied the Schengen conditions since 12. December 2008.

I don't think so, coz France is still Schengen Area and you can go around them.
I've had single entry Schengen visa for Germany this year, and I also went to France, Netherland, and Belgium, then went back to Germany. Next week after, I went to Austria then went back to Germany again. I didn't get problems about the visa.

But the problem is that Switzerland (Basel)is not included in Schengen yet.
and if you entered "no Schengen Area" and then you go back to Schengen Area, your Schengen visa will be rejected.

A single entry means that you can only enter Europe once, therefore on your trip you can enter any country that is withing the schengen zone including France. So NO you will not need a transit visa.
Please refer to article with all countries within the schengen zone.
