Your local library might have some information on get togethers - ours does and it's a good place to start.

Some retired people take voluntary jobs such as working in a charity shop - good way to make friends and meet people

If you live in South London, the Darby and Joan club is a great place to make friends:

Joining a class at your local college, whether it's painting, dancing or cooking will enable you to meet people of all ages and learn a new skill too.
