Ok, London help, majorily needed, so confused?

Ok I am going to London on the 13th december, I arrive in Stansted at around 2pm. I am staying in Streatham High Road on this night. I hope to go to Buckingham Palace/Oxford Street and Big Ben, on this day. Which is the best to do this. On the 2nd day I want to go to Camden Market, and I am staying in the London City Airport Travelodge on this night. Could anyone give me an idea of the easier and safest way to do this (only 17 first time in London alone)

And on the 14th I am going to the o2 arena for a concert so directions to here would help. And does anyone know the prices of a day ticket for the underground?

PLEASE HELP

Many Thanks :)

Firstly Stansted Airport is 43 miles north east of London and its quite a long journey to Streatham. You need to catch the Stansted Express Train to London Liverpool Street Station; then the Underground (Subway) to London Bridge (change at Bank), and a Southern Train to Streatham Station. Including all the changes this journey will take about 1 hour 40 minutes. Before boarding the Stansted Express buy a One Day Travelcard; this all day ticket will cover your rail journey to London Liverpool Street and all London Underground/suburban rail/bus travel for that day. Once you are settled in Streatham take the train from Streatham Common Station (different Streatham station the one you arrived at) to Victoria. Buckingham Palace is a short walk from Victoria Station. as someone else has suggested pick up a good London street map and each day you are in London buy a One Day Travelcard - much cheaper than buying cash fares for each journey

(The O2 arena is outside North Greenwich Station on the Underground Jubilee Line, which runs through central London and London Bridge)

To travel to all those places i'd go by bus and leave very early in the morning
for the underground it depends where you get your tickets.. ;)

If I was you I would do Buckingham Palace and Big Ben on the first day if you're going to get to London at 2 pm, then on the next day do Oxford Street and Camden Market. Camden is probably a better thing to do early in the day, then you can get the Northern Line underground down to Tottenham Court Road and then you can walk along Oxford Street. Oxford Street can take a while to walk down if you get distracted by a few shops and Camden Market is massive too!

A Day Ticket for the underground is like £5-£6.50, but worth it, no point in buying singles everywhere and the freedom to go anywhere on the underground is definitely worth it.

As for the o2, get the underground to North Grenwich underground station and follow the crowd! There are directions everywhere once you get out of the station because the O2 arena is the only thing there really! Plus, once you walk out of the station you won't be able to miss the dome!

I would buy an A-Z map once you're there in case you get a bit lost anywhere but maybe keep it in a bag or something so you don't look like a tourist!

    Hope this helps.

    Buses and Coaches to London

The Terravision shuttle bus service operates from Stansted Coach Station, departing every 30 minutes to Victoria station and Liverpool Street. You can also get to Stansted from both these stations using the same shuttle service.

Journey time: 75 minutes (from Victoria) and 55 minutes (to Liverpool Street)

    One Way: £9.00
    Round Trip: £14.00

    Trains
Stansted airport has its own train station underneath the terminal building.

    Stansted Express
The Stansted Express service is a regular and convenient train service between the airport and London Liverpool Street station. Trains depart every 15-30 minutes.

    Journey time: 45 minutes

    One Way: £18.00
    Round Trip: £26.80

    then on the underground:

from victoria, take 2 stops on the victoria line and you are in oxford street.
from victoria, take 4 stops on the victoria line, the you are in euston, then 1 more stops on the nothern line to camden.

    easy.

there is a map of the underground: http://www.tourstolondon.co.uk/london-un…

always check directions before you climb on a train.

    enjoy your trip!

I find the Underground a very fast & easy way to travel. AFAIK, they offer a 3-day pass.
It's not very cheap, but hey, London's expensive :)

Check which zone your hotels are in, and whether they have a tube stations nearby. When you get the tube pass you'll have to say whether you want a card for zone 1+2, zone 1+2+3 , etc.
Buckingham, Oxford st, Big Ben, Camden Town are in zone 1+2.

The tube card is called an Oyster card.
Some Oyster plans get you a free pass on busses throughout all the zones. Buses are slower though, and their map isn't as easy to use.

The O2? I think it's somewhere on the Jubilee line. There's definitely a tube station for it.

When you get there, I recommend getting an AZ guide in one of the tube stations or a store. It's a good map book with a very extensive index in the end. That, of course, depends on whether you think you're going to need a map.

(Regarding names and terms, "tube" and "Underground" are the names for the underground train system. Note that "subway" is something else.)

    Go to:
    http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en

Just fill in the boxes and it will take you to a page where you can click on the route you want to take. Print it off (if you can) and follow the directions!

I'm not sure about prices, but that will also be on the TfL website.
    Try this link:
    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresandtickets/2930.aspx

As for safety, don't go down roads where you can get lost (no shops etc)
It might end up being quite hard to get back to where you want to be!! It's happened to me and I live here!!! :)

    Hope this helps!!
