What protection does your average cruise ship carry against piracy?

are staff trained to use firearms against pirates ? How much force are they allowed to use legally ? Do they carry semi automatic assault rifles for protection ?

i think you will find that piracy is not just near somalia and has become quite a problem globally , so do you know the answer ?

Cruise ships do sail through the waters around Somalia.

It depends on the ship - its size - its nationality and the company's policy. A ship sailing in international waters is allowed to 'do' a lot more than if it in another country's waters. You'll find it hard to find out *exactly* what each ship is trained to do as they will keep this top secret, including whether they have weapons onboard.
