Has peterlee in north east England got 'The Thing' back again this year?

last year peterlee had a tiny christmas tree that locals called 'the trig' and 'the thing' it was about 3 foor tall and very shabby. just wondering if it's stilll there.

It was replaced last year a couple of weeks after it made the national headlines, it didn't last as long as Christmas. This year there's a more impressive tree, and the lights are being turned on tonight by Laura White who was apparently on the X-Factor at some point.

It was on the local news this morning.
I think they have leaned their lesson and are going to get a decent one that looks like a tree.
