Renewing Canadian Passport in the UK.?

Hi, my girlfriend is a Canadian living here in the uk. Unfortunately her passport is going to expire in the next couple of months. We have all the forms and know that it is possible for her to renew it here, however we have encountered some problems that websites are not helping us to answer.

She needs to have a guarantor sign her application (and photos i presume) but on the list of accepted guarantors there is nobody that she is able to ask. However I know that British applications allows teachers and local government officers as guarantors. Are these acceptable for the renewing a canadian passport as well???

If not does anybody have any suggestions?? Especially if you have been through this process before??

HELP!!!

Additional Details

If she was renewing from Canada then she would not need a guarantor... unfortunately to renew here in UK it seems that she does need one.

It is not required that your guarantor must be a Canadian.

Your guarantor must:

1. Have known you personally for at least two (2) years.
2. Live within the jurisdiction of the passport issuing office and be accessible for verification.
3. Be one of the following:
◦ Dentist
◦ Judge
◦ Practising lawyer
◦ Magistrate
◦ Mayor
◦ Medical doctor
◦ Notary public
◦ Police officer
◦ Signing officer of a bank
4. Be able to confirm your identity
Retired guarantors are not eligible unless the guarantor's name still appears on the listing provided to Passport Canada by the relevant association.
A relative may act as a guarantor for passport purposes provided he or she meets the specified requirements.

Your guarantor must perform the following tasks free of charge:

1. Complete and sign the "Declaration of Guarantor" section.
2. Write, "I certify this to be a true likeness of (either your name or your child's name)" on the back of one of the passport photos and sign.
3. If applicable, sign and date a copy of each document to support your identity.

If you have not known an eligible guarantor for at least two years, complete form PPTC 132 "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor" available from any Passport Canada service location or by telephone.

The "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor" form must be sworn to or declared before, and signed by, a person authorized by law to administer an oath or a solemn declaration. If completed outside Canada, a qualified official includes a Canadian or British diplomatic or consular representative, or a qualified local official.

Thanks, do you also happen to know if British passport photos are ok to use?

Or do they have to be done by a professional photographer, which is a pain to organise and going to be a lot more expensive???

Thanks for your answer, was really helpful and informative!
No, you can't use British passport photos; they are smaller [35x45mm] whereas the photos for a Canadian passport need to be 50x70mm. Just print out the requirements and provide them to a professional photographer.
