What are the best treatments for body dysmorphic disorder?

Hi Phaedra, the usual treatment for BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) is either cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), or an SSRI antidepressant medicine. Sometimes a combination of CBT plus an SSRI antidepressant medicine is used.
However, one problem with treatment is that some people with BDD do not accept that they have a mental health problem. Getting someone to agree to treatment is, in itself, sometimes difficult.

I don't know for sure but i think Cognitive is probably the best treatment. I researched it and that's what came up when you search for the best treatment, that and Anti-depressants.

Cognitive therapy...Cognitive therapy seeks to help the client overcome difficulties by identifying and changing dysfunctional thinking, behavior, and emotional responses. This involves helping clients develop skills for modifying beliefs, identifying distorted thinking, relating to others in different ways, and changing behavior. Treatment is based on collaboration between client and therapist and on testing beliefs.

Harry Edwards recalled the case of a young man who, accompanied by a lady, was brought to me for healing. He was in great pain and eaten-up with arthritis. I wrote to ask for healing for my sister who was to undergo an operation for aneurysm in the aorta. Her operation was very successful. After 1 day in intensive care and 2 days in progressive care she was back in her own room and has done extremely well. She was allowed home after 7 days when she had been told to expect to be in hospital for 10 to 15 days. Everyone was amazed at her recovery and the surgeon told her she had been a perfect patient.
