Can I get into the United States with an Irish passport?

Question

I'm born in the States but lived in Ireland my entire life (both my parents are Irish, as well). Will it be difficult getting through immigration without proof of citizenship, or does "place of birth: USA" on the Irish passport suffice? Really nervous, I usually bring my birth certificate/copy of an expired US passport with me but can't find it and leave tomorrow morning! Fml.

No, you can't use your Irish passport to enter the Unites States by law if you are a U.S. citizen.

U.S. Code § 1185 (b)
Citizens
Except as otherwise provided by the President and subject to such limitations and exceptions as the President may authorize and prescribe, it shall be unlawful for any citizen of the United States to depart from or enter, or attempt to depart from or enter, the United States unless he bears a valid United States passport.

To travel on the Irish passport you would need to hold an online travel authorization (ESTA) from the US CBP.

as long as your passport is valid and not outdated, you should be fine

i have a friend who went to the states last month you need to get a u.s pasport from the u.s embassy in dublin you prob will get threw whit an irish one but its a risk
