If you are a UK or EU citizen then you can go today and stay as long as you like or at least until you still have money. You'll need to get a residence card - from a police station, this essentially will prove you are who you say you are, and although not compulsory will help with paperwork, getting a doctor, opening a bank account etc.

Above all learn the language, once you've done that you'll be able to study - if a university or college will accept you, get a job etc. I imagine there'll be a lot of bar/tourist jobs going in the summer and that should get you started. Regarding a proper full time job, there is no reason why you shouldn't work. You will have to get registered with the Spanish social services etc and pay their taxes etc, but again you need to learn the language.

If you're an EU national, you can live and work in Spain if you like.

However, it's a difficult country to work in if you don't speak Spanish. You would need to contact the Spanish Embassy in your country and ask them what exactly you need to do or have before you move there.

Unless you already have very good Spanish, I wouldn't bother trying to study there.

    Where are you from?

They are always willing to discuss selling you a visa, but GETTING one is another story.

Would you be able to get a job? Don't know. Do you speak Spanish? Cause it looks as if you have trouble with English. If you can't even manage in your native tongue, I doubt you'll be able to work properly in Spanish (not without lessons...in both - it's allowed. Aloud means loudly, or not in a whisper).

Right now, unemployment is around 20%, so...no. They aren't giving jobs to foreigners. Not terribly likely.

How long? Depends where you are from, and what the restrictions are for that country.

Yes, they will let you bring your money there and study. STUDENT visas aren't terribly difficult to get.

First you'd need to go to the town hall and a get a 'padrona' which show you live in that town, you'll need an address there. Then go to the police station and get a NIE number, which is a identity number then you'll need a social security number to be able to work. You'll be more likely to find work in summer as it's a coastal town. Studying would mean you'd need university level Spanish although some places have courses for foreigners, Try the uni in Valencia. You'd need to pay for tuition though. But if you want to learn Spanish the best way is to live there.
    Good luck

As a UK Citizen, yes you can legally do this without any problem, however getting a job is an entirely different situation as there is currently a lot of unemployment over here and difficulty finding work - even if you happen to a have a good range of skills and qualifications AND are fluent in the language.
    - It might be a better idea in the first instance to come and stay with your mate for a week or so - Partly to see if you are suited to living over here and partly to investigate the study or working opportunities that there are.
Please take a look at www.tumbit.com that list some useful "How to " Guides for people in your kind of situation ...

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has a website with a lot of useful and up to date information for anyone thinking of moving to Spain. It covers such things as the Spanish health system, employment, legal requirements and forms you`d need to fill in etc.

As an EEC citizen you should find few problems on the legal side of things, but obtaining work is a different matter in the current economic climate. Also, can you speak any Spanish?
