Visiting Ukraine for 108 days?

Ok so I've gone to the official website to see if I need a visa to visit Ukraine for more than 90 days. It say's if your stay is longer than 90 days that you will need a visa. So I filled out my visa application and sent it to the Ukrainian Embassy in D.C. About two days later an employee called me and said we cannot make you a visa. I asked why not. He told me you want to stay for 108 days and you don't need a visa for this. I kept saying that your guy's website say's if I stay more than 90 days I need a visa. But once again he said you do not need it. He told me that once I land in Ukraine and get settled, just register my passport at a police station or a ministry office to extend my stay for those extra days. I know I should believe what I am being told directly from an official from the Ukrainian Embassy but can anyone give me any info on this that has experience please?

I think you can trust the official's advice and just register your passport at the department of visas to extend your stay in Ukraine. Here's a link which can be helpful http://www.tryukraine.com/info/visas.sht…
Hope you'll enjoy your stay :)
