Check-in at stop-over as opposed to original airport?

Hi, I've found a flight, Manchester-Gatwick-Mexico City for £545 which is much cheaper than the same flight leaving from Gatwick. Would it be possible for me to check-in at Gatwick instead of Manchester and just skip the Manchester flight as I live much nearer to Gatwick. (The Manchester-Gatwick flight is British Airways and the Gatwick-Mexico City flight is Mexicana, if that helps)
Thanks for any advice!

Once you are a no show for the Manchester your booking is at risk of being cancelled, it is possible that due to it being to separate airlines and possible flight no's too, you maybe alright. However, Mexicana have recently joined the Oneworld Alliance, of which British Airways is a founder member, so there is a greater chance that the booking will be entered in both airlines systems, increasing the risk of a cancellation.

To further the answer that was given in the first response, the chances of your itinerary being cancelled as soon as you fail to show up at MAN is about 100 percent. What you are proposing is called "hidden-city ticketing," which is prohibited by most airlines.

Sure - go ahead - it will cost you plenty, however: the £545 that you paid for your original ticket, plus the more expensive cost to get the Gatwick to Mexico City ticket at the last minute.

Airlines cancel all segments of tickets after a no show exactly to prevent people from doing this. That means that the return part of you ticket (if you have one) is also canceled.

If you are a no show for the Manchester check in the airline will cancel all the remaining legs of your journey. I think you should contact the airline, Tell them your schedule has changed and that you wish to join the plane at Gatwick instead. The fact that it is two different airlines might well help. they are a oneworld partner of BA so make sure you do get their decision in writing and ask them to reconfirm your e-ticket for the new routing.
