Hi - take a look at the Enjoy England website, for a wide range of budget places to stay around London. Prices start from £20 a night per room:

Try The Strand Palace Hotel which costs under £100 per night for a double room and is located in the heart of Covent Garden. The excellent value Radisson Edwardian Kenilworth Hotel is also a good place to stay as it's close to Theatreland, Oxford Street and the city's main landmarks:

If you have less than £50 to spend a night, then head to Bloomsbury / Russell Square areas, where you can find plenty of affordable guest houses:

You can go for 2-star or 3-star if that doesnt hurt your budget, or you can try 4-star hotels. Just keep in mind that the cheaper it gets, you'll have to sacrifice comfort. I've found a couple of links that i thought can help you out. They have extensive list of hotels and lodges, ranging from less that £45 and above, all around London
