7 hrs 20 min would get you to the Ocean. Virginia Beach/ Norfolk

Just one hour north of there is a very historical area
Yorktown, Williamsburg, Jamestown (home of Pocahontas)

Williamsburg is an all day or all week thing. Colonial city w/ people dressed and doing things of that time.
Jamestown is far less expensive but interesting. The websites are easily accessable.

Its a bridge, then you go into a tunnel under the water, so ships can cross on the water above. Nothing at all to do on the other side, so just come back. We stopped to view the water there, and some teens came running at us with large pieces of lumber, so we left LOL
