Also be aware that you can just pop over to Australia with the intention to work; you will require a valid visa.

You have a few options-

Working Holiday visa (for those aged 18-30) - http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-…
Employer Sponsored or Skilled visa- http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/

Since you are coming here for working , you need to get a valid visa . You can apply for it from Australian immigration site .you need to put these questions in work related forum based in Australia too.

So that you can get more information regarding it . Hope everything goes well . Best of luck !

wow, you r soo lucky! it is my dream to live in australia with my family (who r already there) and friends when i am released from the grasp of education in the UK! :)

    1) ive been looking at a few jobs and i looks ok, im not flooded with them but there are a few. try searching at these sites, they are the biggest i think! www.jobsearch.gov.au www.seek.com.au www.jobsearch.com.au

    2) bank accounts will suit different people but many people use the "commonwealth bank of australia" (http://www.commbank.com.au/) have a look around though online or when u get there and u may want to transfer ur money or choose somewhere different

    3) for the pay as you go deffinately go with "telstra". they cover a lot of australia, and most people are with them so you can top up in many shops, and little shops in the street.

umm, don't bother taking many thick winter clothes- even in winter there it feels quite warm to us British unless they have a bad bit of rainy bit of weather! dont get caught out with visa's, apply for it early and keep a cool head. auzzies are very casual and cool, so feel free to go out in shorts and a t-shirt. the public transport is amazing out there, so i dont think you should need to hire or buy a car! when i landed in australia, i had to go in the tube without seeing the weather straight away and saw that all the australians wrapped up in fur coats and hats and scarves, and then stupidly spent a long time in the loo getting changed into my british winter clothes and gear. dont do that, i soon realised that the australians find 25 oc cold, so when i got out of the tube soon decided to get changed back into my dress and sun cream.
you will see some amazing wildlife out there and make the most of it. in june the whales will be swimming along the nsw and queensland coast, so go whale and dolphin watching- you won't be dissappointed! watch out for spiders and scorpians. shake out your shoes before you put them on- it may save your life. the night life in Auz is pretty good, so go out and have fun, make some friends and just make the most of being in an incredible country!

i hope u have an amazing time in Australia. good luck! :) xx

    1. We weren't ever realistically hit hard because of tight banking legislation. The only problems were confidence collapses then the roll-on effects of the US downturn. The economy is going up again, with our dollar quite strong. You should be able to find a job, depending on your field of course.

    2. Any Aussie bank is good. Westpac, Commonwealth Bank and St George are all reputable and good banks. Commonwealth Bank is particularly good, but look at the fees for each and see which suits you best.

    3. There are a few big telcos in Australia. Telstra is about 3 times the price of everyone else but has the largest coverage if you're planning to go out of the main metro centres. Optus is also good with coverage and has more reasonable prices.

If you're going to stay in medium/large cities/towns then your best bet is to go with Vodafone, Virgin Mobile or Three. I'm with Vodafone, Virgin is cheaper so might be better for prepay - Three has terrible reception.

Hope that helps and that you enjoy it here! Awesome place!
