Check with your insurance company. Most UK insurance covers people to drive in other countries but only for a limited time. Sometimes you have to tell your insurance company the dates of your visit. I expect the same is true for Bulgarian insurance.

This is a very tricky one to answer as there are some very significant changes occurring with Bulgarian insurance policies. The old type insurance is being superseded by a new type of policy which covers the Bulgarian driver throughout the EU for third-party claims. This has raised premiums from around 170 BGN (86€) to around 580 BGN (300€). The reason for this change is to bring about harmonization throughout the EU.

You should as the previous answer says "Check with your Insurance company".

One further note, if your route takes you through Kosovo your insurance will NOT be valid and you MUST purchase suitable insurance at the border.
