Moving to UK? Life in the UK?

Hi mates i'm an italian boy planning to get away from Italy bacause the situation around here is getting worse and worse.I've always loved the "English Way" and the "English world" cause IMO this should be the way to live and act day by day, i set my heart on a move there a long time ago cause i really love England and its multicultural face.Berlusconi (our prime minister) is making all but deep damages to my beautiful nation, so i'm thinkin of moving on and i'd like to ask u all: How is living in England nowadays? How is life in the UK?

The best way to find out would be to visit and experience it personally. As an EU citizen, you can live here without having to deal with all the immigration/visa hurdles, although if you plan on working, you may well end up in low-paid work unless you have a particular skill. I have some French, Italian and Spanish friends who live and work here, and they're very happy. To really understand England, you have to socialise in a pub. The public house is a great institution which comes in many forms. Some have live music, games and a selection of local ales. Some pubs serve excellent food - these ones tend to be in the countryside.

People don't come to England for the weather, although it is warmer and drier in the South-East. Personally, I would not recommend living in London as it is expensive, crowded and there are too many beggars. It's great for a brief visit, however. To be fair, England's no paradise, especially with the economy in such a state, but it's a lot safer than many places!

Pluses - good multiculteral society now ....not perfect but better than in most countries.
Good wages IF you can find a job (you need to be skilled at something).
Good health and social benefits if you qualify.
The people are mostly friendly and it`s a safe country.
    ......................
    Negatives.

The climate can be iffy. You might get good summers if you are lucky, but mostly the winters are bleak.
A very expensive country now to live in (rents are high), unless you are earning good money.
The country is deep in debt, which will take years to pay off - so taxes will continue to rise in an already expensive country.

Politicians in all countries make it difficult to like your own country. Ours are no different. Until Bliar got in it was tolerable. We are the most scrutinised people on earth. Living in Britain today is like living in George Orwells world of his book 1984. If you haven't read it or seen the film, then I would suggest you go onto WIKI and search it. Britain today is just the same but not as obviously so. People are great though.

If you want to live here you should start by learning the difference between England and the UK.

Hi, I'm English and was made redundant 6 months ago which is why I am on Yahoo answers on a Friday night instead of out getting lashed. As for you coming here, please dont. I have nothing against Italians but I do against my country being turned into a melting pot and taking jobs from us. I see nothing wrong in multi culturalism but there has to be limits. Anyway please stay in Italy you will like it better there than you will here. Honestly.

Lifes good, however everything seems to be rushed and every time I go to another country everyone seems so much more relaxed. However, I love England (can't say much for the rest of the UK) so it's worth looking into.

Prepare for rain and cold, better pay from your job, but also more expensive living. I'd stick to the cities because it's cheaper to live when you consider transport and house prices (outside London), and you will also get higher salaries.

Try to stick to Multicultural cities as well, because they will give you more of a relaxed feel (in my opinion anyway) and people might just be more friendly with you. London is an obvious, but so is Leicester and Nottingham, plus many others as I'm sure. Leicester isn't a very nice place particularly, but Nottingham has a lot of Asian students, Middle Eastern migrants, American tourists and when I'm around on a friday night I tend to find a lot of Europeans. In fact, the other week I had 2 Russians come over to us and have a drink with us, although you have to be careful with people you meet because of crime, in general it is really friendly. Find cities like this!

Everywhere I go they're always building these big new contemporary buildings so many cities are really becoming modernised and it's a good feel. Of course everything like medical care (probably not nursing but that's a different matter) and technology is excellent, but it'd be more of a jump if you were from say Africa, probably not that much different to Italy.

If you don't take anything to offense and can laugh at the bad points, then you'll love it. Great nightlife as well, can get quite messy!

Things to consider when you come over though, high unemployment and when you do get a job, high tax.
